Letter from DOB

Grrrr, I just got a letter from the DOB saying that they’ve got a Stop Work Order on my building. This isn’t news to me. It’s from the previous owner.

Now the letter is just saying that they’re going to flag the property on the BIS website, which I believe it’s already on there. So maybe this is just a letter that doesn’t mean anything right? They’re claiming that this is “an improvement to their department’s ongoing committment to increasing transparency.”

I’m not doing any work on my building, nor am I planning to in the near future.
So is this something I can ignore for now?

Is there a way to get them to lift the active Stop Work Order since it was from so long ago (4-5 years) and with a previous owner.

I think the SWO was for work done without a permit. I don’t actually know what the work was as there are no records. The building inspector didn’t see anything out of the ordinary when it was inspected for our purchase.

Advice would be welcome.
