We are planning to buy a 2-family rowhouse in which the original stairs have been taken out and two new sets of stairs have been put in to create two triplexes. This configuration wastes a lot of space. When we convert to a one-family, we would like to take out both sets of stairs, tear down the walls and re-create the original staircase of the house. Does anyone have any idea of the cost of putting in a new “Victorian-style” staircase and where to find a company that would do such a thing?
