Construction is under way on a mixed-use building that will bring another new building to a block across from McCarren Park in Greenpoint.

City records call for a six-story building at 66 Nassau Avenue at the intersection of Lorimer Street and Bedford Avenue, across from popular neighborhood eatery Five Leaves.

The building will have five residential units, a commercial unit on the ground floor, and community space on the second floor.

The building had not yet topped out, but construction had passed the third floor in early June. The exterior of the building is shrouded in scaffolding and black construction netting.

Renderings show a red brick facade with abundant floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies. The retail space on the ground floor has high ceilings and big expanses of glass.

One of the apartments will be a duplex penthouse; the other four will each share a floor.

The building is zoned for 5,802 square feet of residential space, which would give each of the five units 1,160 square feet on average. That and the small number of units suggests condos.

The developer on the project is Greenburg Properties, an LLC based in Queens. The architect on the project is New York Design Architects, an architecture and design firm based out of Manhattan.

The site was formerly home to Northside Medical Care, old photos reveal.

The building is not the only new construction on the block. Just steps away at 585 Manhattan Avenue, an Polish bakery has given way to a new residential development.

The building’s construction is yet another sign of a changing Greenpoint. The neighborhood, long a Polish enclave, has seen significant development in recent years following a 2005 waterfront rezoning.
