Facade, Windows Almost Done at Affordable Mixed-Use Development on Fulton Street in Bed Stuy

An affordable housing development in Bed Stuy is nearing the finish line nearly three years after work began on the building’s foundation. The building has topped out at 10 stories and, when complete, will house 57 units at 1320 Fulton Street.

Records also show space for three commercial units in the building, on the first and second floors.

The owner and developer of the property is Fulton Street South Redevelopment Company, aka Metropolitan Realty Group, which develops and manages affordable housing. The firm owns the Section 8 building next door at 1330 Fulton Street.

It appears 1320 will also be an all-affordable building, though it is not clear that it will be Section 8 like its next-door neighbor. The new building replaces a vacant lot.

The architect is Curtis + Ginsberg Architects. Curtis + Ginsberg have worked on other notable affordable housing developments in the borough, including 59 Frost Street in Williamsburg.

A recent visit revealed 1320 Fulton Street is looking close to done on the exterior, where the facade is nearly finished except at the very top. All the windows appear to be installed except on the uppermost rows.

Scaffolding is still up, despite a sign on the outside showing an anticipated completion of February 2016.

The brick facade is color blocked in red and pale blue-gray. The building will have 29 underground parking spots for cars and the same for bikes in the cellar.

There will also be three residential terraces, a commercial terrace, a recreation room, and a second-floor laundry.

The development joins several other complexes with affordable units that have recently sprung up in Bed Stuy, including 785 DeKalb Avenue and nearby 1134 Fulton.
