Comedy Fundraiser
The Friend's of the RKO Keith's Flushing, and its 2900+ member group will be holding a comedy fundraiser on Friday. The funds collected will go towards a feasibility study that will hopefully be completed before June 2010. Come and enjoy. CHCA Meeting

The Secret Science Club: "A Mind-blowing Evening"

Do these questions pop into your mind often: What is fear? How did it evolve? What parts of the brain are most involved with emotions? The NYC Firefighter Date - Auction
The FIRE SALE New York City Firefighter Date-Auction is hosted in conjunction with the Reliquary's newest exhibit: "Company Journals of the Southside Firehouse"curated by Firefighter Pat D'Emic of Hook & Ladder Company 104. This show uses the daily log book entries of our local FDNY firehouse to explain a rich history of the fire service in north Brooklyn. 4th Annual Rock n’ Roll Auction

John Ullman Exhibition
A special exhibition benefiting the children of the Manjushree Orphanage and Free School, located in the high Himalayas of Northeast India. Young Professionals Committee
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy is pleased to introduce our Young Professionals Committee. alice...Alice...ALICE!
Irondale Ensemble presents alice...Alice...ALICE!, an original, environmental excursion performance piece, based on the beloved Lewis Carroll classic, Alice in Wonderland, directed by Jim Niesen and designed by Ken Rothchild. The audience follows the ensemble down the rabbit hole into Wonderland, -- the nooks, crannies, recesses and lofts of the Irondale Center and its historic 19th Century building. Reading by John Manbeck
John Manbeck, author of Historic Photos of the Brooklyn Bridge, presents the story of this iconic structure through a broad range of images drawn from many sources. Eternal Return at NATUREart
The non-profit gallery NURTUREart launches a new group show tonight with the opening of Eternal Return. Curated by Christine Spangler and Tyler Wriston, the exhibition features Jonathan Brilliant (above), Cody Trepte, Thomas Lendvai, Reuben Lorch-Miller, Judith Braun, Joy Curtis and Tara Parsons. Kombit – Coming Together for Haiti
This weekend Lab 24/7 is having a fundraiser for Haiti. The event is called “Kombit” which means “to come together for the good of the community” in Haitian creole. Haiti Benefit Show
Hamptons for Haiti is an organization hosting a series of benefit concerts to support Haitian earthquake victims. It was founded by musician and Hamptons local Dan Bailey in the hours following the tragic earthquake. His band, Living Rhythm, of which bassist Obed Jean Louis is Haitian, immediately began preparing weekly events to support the cause. One of Living Rhythm’s vocalists, “Zulu” Kheswa, was able to personally recommend the Yéle Haiti Foundation, which was founded by her mentor and native Haitian, grammy-award winning artist Wyclef Jean. To help support and donate, come and watch Dan Bailey & Living Rhythm perform at Le Grand Dakar Restaurant. Celebrating a Century: Hollywood in the Heights

"Brace For Impact: the Aftermath of Flight 1549"
Front Room Gallery is pleased to present Stephen Mallon's "Brace For Impact: the aftermath of flight 1549.” It is very difficult to encapsulate the events that happened during and following the crash of flight 1549, but Stephen Mallon's large-scale photographs, taken during the salvage of the fuselage and engine, impart a physicality and scale to these incomprehensible occurrences. Mallon's photos present us with the aftermath of this disaster and remind us how it was averted despite nearly unbeatable odds through the mastery and bravery of the pilot and crew. “Creation in Reverse”

The former Talking Heads front man expounds on this theory, with the aid of slides and sound clips, in a free lecture entitled “Creation in Reverse” at 8pm at the Bell House. Open City Dialogue: Card Counting
Learn how to make the most of your trips to Atlantic City with tonight’s Open City Dialogue lecture at Pete’s Candy Store. Josh Axelrad is a former professional blackjack player and current memoirist whose "Repeat Until Rich: A Professional Card Counter’s Chronicle of the Blackjack Wars" will be released in March; he will be discussing the card counting strategies that he used (and that got him banned from a number of Vegas institutions), and whether the ethical questions it raises make it an unsafe bet. This event is a holiday variety show benefiting the homeless. Performers include Todd Barry, Wyatt Cenac, Tom Shilue, hosted by Gabe Liedman and Jenny Slate. The proceeds will benefit RunTellmanRun Entrepreneur Tellman Knudson who is running across the country barefoot, raising $100 million for the homeless.
