Closing Bell: Flea Me!
Last Sunday was by far the best weekend yet at the Brooklyn Flea, thanks in part to the weather and in part to the continued evolution of the vendor mix. This weekend look for more of the same, as the weather is looking good and everyone from the Red Hook food vendors to mainstays Olde Good Things to some new record sellers will be in residence on Sunday. In case you haven't been yet, the Flea runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and is located at 176 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn. Closest trains are the C and G to Washington/Clinton. Or you can take any of the number of trains that go to Atlantic Station and make the 10-minute stroll up Lafayette Avenue from there.

A Look at Yesterday's Flea
It's a holiday here at Brownstoner World Headquarters. In the meantime, here are some photos from yesterday's Flea, without question the best yet! Don't forget to upload your photos to Flickr and tag them with "brooklynflea."

Closing Bell: Here Comes Sunshine!

Is it payback time for the crappiest spring in recent memory? Let's hope so, because Sunday's shaping up to be the biggest Flea yet. New vintage dealers join the famous pupusa purveyors formerly of the Red Hook Ballfields. We've also got a new wallpaper and porcelain dealers making their debut this weekend. If the good weather is a reminder that you need a pair of wheels, we've got some sweet vintage bikes on tap as well. For the uninitiated, the Flea runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and is located at 176 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn. Closest trains are the C and G to Washington/Clinton. Or you can take any of the number of trains that go to Atlantic Station and make the 10-minute stroll up Lafayette Avenue from there.

Closing Bell: Flea Time Again
Despite today's downpours, the weather is looking decent for Sunday's Flea (knock on wood). As we continue to cull and curate the mix, you should recognize a good number of regular vendors as well as some exciting new blood--some of which is discusssed on the Flea Blog today. In case you're just tuning in, the Flea runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and is located at 176 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn. Closest trains are the C and G to Washington/Clinton. Or you can take any of the number of trains that go to Atlantic Station and make the 10-minute stroll up Lafayette Avenue from there. This Sunday, consider combining your visit to the Flea with the annual SONYA Studio Stroll; this year, over 100 artists throughout Clinton Hill and Wallabout will be opening their studios to the public. Fun, fun!

Closing Bell: Flea Bigger and Better Than Ever on Sunday

As long as our nemesis mother nature plays nice, this is shaping up to be biggest and best Flea yet. As noted on the Flea Blog today, there are a bunch of new high-qual, old-school vendors starting up this weekend, including Fort Greener Gary Ford who used to have a booth at the 25th Street Garage and will be showcaseing his eclectic mix of fossilized whale bones, Persian prayer rugs, and picture frames along the Clermont fence on Sunday. For the uninitiated, the Flea runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and is located at 176 Lafayette Avenue. Closest trains are the C and G to Washington/Clinton. Or you can take any of the number of trains that go to Atlantic Station and make the 10-minute stroll up Lafayette Avenue from there. If you've come before and combined your outing with a visit to one of the many restaurants on Dekalb Avenue, why not be a tad more adventurous and check out the wealth of brunch options a few blocks north on Myrtle Avenue.

Closing Bell: Flea and House Tour Pray for Sun

We'd be lying if we said we weren't just a little bit irked at Mother Nature right now. While precious few rain drops have actually fallen on the Brooklyn Flea during market hours, all four Sundays to date have had the threat of rain and have been unseasonably cold. And it looks like more of the same for this weekend. Argghh! Luckily we have a hearty bunch of vendors who roll with the rain-or-shine punches to get to what's real. The organizers of this year's Fort Greene House Tour must also be watching the weather report closely. Both events happen Sunday. The Flea runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 176 Lafayette Avenue. Closest trains are the C and G to Washington/Clinton. Or you can take any of the number of trains that go to Atlantic Station and make the 10-minute stroll up Lafayette Avenue from there. The house tour is from noon to 5 p.m.; you can pick up your tickets in the BAM Garden at Fulton and Lafayette or at the flea market. If you're in the neighborhood on Saturday, make sure to stop by the Habana Outpost Block Party.
UPDATE: The sun has decided to shine upon The Flea for the first time and the place is hopping. Come on down! It's open 'til 5 o'clock.
