Commenting Problems, New Server
As many of you have no doubt experienced in recent weeks, our commenting system has not been firing on all cylinders. It appears we've outgrown our current server. By the end of the week, we should be up on a new, much more powerful one and back to normal in the comments department. Thanks for bearing with us in the meantime.

Sarah Ryley Joins Brownstoner Squad
Some of you may have noticed a new byline appearing on the site this week. We're very pleased to announce that Sarah Ryley, who's written about real estate and development for the Brooklyn Eagle for the past two years, has joined the editorial team at Brownstoner. Sarah, who's also written for The Real Deal, The Detroit News and The Oakland Press, will primarily be covering development activity in Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo, Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene and the Navy Yard area. A resident of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, she will also be helping to boost our coverage across the park. Welcome, Sarah!

Looking for a Burg Blogger
We're looking for someone who lives in Williamsburg or Greenpoint to contribute three or four posts a week about development and storefront activity in the area. If you're interested, drop us an email at brownstoner@brownstoner.com with BURG BLOGGER in the header. Give us a paragraph on why you're the man or woman for the job and, if you're feeling particularly enthusiastic, a sample post. No attachments but links to online material okay. Thanks.

New Hire for Brownstoner
We were going to wait another couple of weeks before sharing the news but we were scooped yesterday so the cat's out of the bag. As The Observer reported, Gabby Warshawer, who's been the web editor for The Real Deal for the past seven months, will be joining Brownstoner.com in August, thereby doubling the site's editorial firepower in one fell swoop. In addition to bringing a real reporter's touch to the blog, the fact that Gabby's based in Gowanus should boost our (wo)man-on-the-street coverage of all those nabes south of Atlantic Avenue. (See, we've been listening to all those complaints about the blog being too Clinton Hill-centric.) You should also notice an uptick in the site's coverage of community board and other neighborhood meetings come autumn as a result. Having another writer around will have the added benefit of giving us the time to nurture other parts of the site like the Forum and Renovation Blogs, both of which should benefit from the software upgrade we have planned to happen within the next couple of weeks.

DumboNYC Guest Post: Dock Street Building Plans

Over the next few weeks, we're going to be inviting some neighborhoods bloggers from around the borough to write guest posts on Brownstoner. Today, DumboNYC kicks it off:
Remember the previous post by Brownstoner on the proposed Dock Street building? Two Trees Management is formally presenting their proposal to the Dumbo Neighborhood Association (DNA) this week and have started an advertising campaign with mailers and a website, but some residents have responded with their own photo renderings and will begin lobbying against the structure citing its proximity to the Brooklyn Bridge and the skepticism of having a dual purpose school and residential tower in the same building. It's reported that the campaign against the Dock Street building is underway, organized by residents of three Two Trees buildings; 30 Main Street, 70 Washington Street, and 1 Main Street, and 57 Front Street.
Ultimately this campaign should not be about 'anti-developer' or 'not-in-my-backyard because it blocks my views'. The real issue is the need to preserve Brooklyn's most iconic bridge view without a building next to it that stands taller than it does. Expect a full effort campaigning from both Two Trees and Dumbo residents this summer before, during, and after the formal submission of documents to the city. -Hideyoshi, DumboNYC.com

What Events Would You Like to Hear About?
We're going to start doing the blogwrap that used to run on Brooklyn Record at the end of the day on Brownstoner since that was the item that people said they would miss the most. We're curious to know whether readers would like to see some version of the Daily Events post on Brownstoner too. Please take a minute and answer the two-question survey on the link to give us your input. Thanks a lot.
