Last night another meeting was held to find ways to fund the Brooklyn Bridge Park, which has an annual budget of $16M. The Post reports that the revenue from luxury condos will likely cover most of that cost, although alternatives are still being studied. But the news is that Dumbo’s Empire Stores Warehouses on Water Street will be soliciting proposals from developers. The 325,000-square feet of retail and commercial space is expected to bring in $1,075,000 of the annual revenue. The warehouses have been slated for retail before and then a performing arts venue, although both plans fell through. The winning plan will be chosen by the end of the year.

  1. Rehab, I think $16M is the ultimate annual budget at full build-out, when the park will no longer be tiny and the pier structures will need ongoing maintenance. Which is not to forget that there are people who believe the operating budget is bloated.
