Closing Bell: Bill Withers at BAM

Bill Withers has led a reclusive life for the past couple of decades since he dropped out of the spotlight. Documentary filmmakers Damani Baker and (Brownstoner brother-in-law) Alex Vlack managed, over the course of the last several years, to earn the trust of the legendary songwriter and have put together a compelling documentary on the man and his music; if you attended the Bill Withers tribute concert in Prospect Park a couple of years ago, you'll recognize some of the footage. The result, Still Bill, will be making a one-night stand tonight at BAM. If you hustle you can make the 4:30 show. We'll be in the audience at the 6:50 screening (which is followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers) and there's a final one at 9:30. You can purchase tickets here and learn more about the movie here.

"I said baby, baby, baby, when you use me I can't get enough." This man sang one of the greatest soul songs of all time. He had a sense of restraint in his singing. Wish I could go.

went to this last night - it was one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. He's so much more amazing than I knew. Thanks to the filmmakers for bringing this to BAM!

I'm in for 6:50 and have been excited about this since I purchased tickets last week. For the record, the only reason I'm aware of this event is because of BAMs ad on this site. Maybe I should read the BAM brochures that come to my mailbox regularly.
