The economics of the wage bill are very, very simple...raise the wages (which in this economy is f*&ing ridiculous) and you will have FEWER jobs. Any jackass with a college course in economics understands this, yet the governor, the community leaders and the unions do not.

I just spent too much time reading about bicycling in NYC!
Some of the videos were cute. The bike snob blog is funny and it led me to this. Happy riding.

DIBS;

Greetings from Portland, Oregon.

I see that you're holding down the fort while I'm on the road!

If bike snob = oxymoron then bike rider = moron?

absolutely, the state should just give subsidies to corps and get rid of all protections for workers. After all, it is the corps that contribute all the money to pols and lobbyists. They are paying for all this preferential treatment.

benson...go to Jake's Seafood there. It may have a new name now, something like jake's Crawfish but everyone knows it as Jake's.

That would be correct, ET.

"After all, it is the corps that contribute all the money to pols and lobbyists. "

Pete, that is so not true. The top contributors to Albany politicians are the teacher's union and local 1199, BY FAR. Every year the papers document the top lobbyists.

DIBS,

Thanks for the recommendation.

I am just too busy reading about Chefs throwing lobsters. So who wants to go with me to Petite Crevette and order lobster?

NYC public school ADULTS (yes adults!) wouldn't be considered dumb and ignorant if they actually graduated knowing what x is in X^2 = 9. sooooo sad. but then again i guess you really don't need 7th grade pre-algebra skills to operate a cash register... or do you? hmmm

add up all the 'consulting fees' such as Bruno received -- that is the real money.

There's actually empirical evidence that raising wages does NOT necessarily reduce employment. Do a search on Card and Krueger.
