Thas a darn clear pic of the "push-in robbers". I doubt they'll be free for long.

Imagine getting killed by a G-train. You'd have to be on the tracks for a long time.

The sidewalk repair bills that must be paid by the homeowner are the most insane thing I've seen here. No other city does it that way.

There is actually a National Wage Theft Day? Now I have heard it all. I just wanna know if there is a Hallmark card for that.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls, Mr. Russo.

Is there a "Kill a Lawyer" Day???

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 20, 2009 8:47 AM

Snappy - there is a Hallmark card but its in Chopin Script and covered in pink roses. Entirely inappropriate.

Posted by: dittoburg at November 20, 2009 8:50 AM

That's every day, Dave.

Posted by: InsertSnappyNameHere at November 20, 2009 8:51 AM

It was yesterday anyway. Party is over.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 20, 2009 8:51 AM

Perhaps we should get with the anti-lawyer jokes.
What do you call 40 lawyers at the bottom of the sea?

Posted by: dittoburg at November 20, 2009 8:54 AM

Progress.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at November 20, 2009 8:59 AM

I prefer "a start" but yea.

A man went to a brain store to get some brain to complete a study. He sees a sign remarking on the quality of professional brain offerred at this particular brain store. He begins to question the butcher about the cost of these brains.

"How much does it cost for engineer brain?"

"Three dollars an ounce."

"How much does it cost for programmer brain?"

"Four dollars an ounce."

"How much for lawyer brain?"

"$1,000 an ounce."

"Why is lawyer brain so much more?"

"Do you know how many lawyers we had to kill to get one ounce of brain?"

How many personal injury attorneys does it take to change a light bulb?

Three--one to turn the bulb, one to shake him off the ladder, and the third to sue the ladder company.

How many municipal adminstrative law attorneys does it take to zzzzzzzzzzz

Posted by: dittoburg at November 20, 2009 9:10 AM

I can see having a heart attack and dying while running for the G, but to be hit by one? Almost as unlikely as dying by being hit by the B61 bus.

From the first post:

"But the story of 65th Street illustrates a problem often cited by housing advocates: Dangerous, illegal apartments often exist in plain sight, under the noses of overworked building inspectors whose job is to discover and fine violators, and of neighbors and workers who are not responsible for combating illegal apartments but may see or learn of unsafe situations."

And residents quoted in the Times story also say Con Ed (which Mayor Bloomberg often defends) visited the place and did repairs, not once reporting that the residence was illegal. Want to talk about crime? There's some REAL criminal activity going on here.

"No other city does it that way." - thats a pretty broad claim. You could trip over that.

Bay Ridge is cited as the 2nd safest neighborhood in the city. Who's no. 1?

"Imagine getting killed by a G-train. You'd have to be on the tracks for a long time."

That's not funny, dittoburg. So what if I laughed.

That photo is creepy to me... like a little kid was abducted. if it was part of a movie, the next shot would be empty swings still swinging with scary music.
