Turf Looking Good to Go at Dean Street Playground

dean%20street%20turf%20092009.JPG
The new artificial turf field on Dean Street between 6th Avenue and Carlton looks like it's finally finished. The project was supposed to be finished early in the summer, but it was delayed for a couple of months because the Parks Dept. says their contractors had difficulty getting the turf to adhere. A Parks Dept. spokesperson says the field will be open to the public next week, once some final "punch list items" regarding the turf installation are complete.

Speaking of artificial turf - where are all the protesters of the Cadman Plaza Field???? I thought the turf was going to be a disaster...funny now the neighborhood is fighting over how popular the field is - funny how no one ever admits they are wrong!

Anyone know if you can get practice permits for this field? (i.e. for organized adult sports)

Thanks Fsrq. I was one of the people in favor of it. It looks great and is used so often that as you say people fight over it. I was there when it opened and it is still great. If it was real grass it would be a disaster. They added more real grass around the periphery and it is hard to keep up...

The dean street field is not open yet? I've seen kids playing on it for the last week or so...

I'm shocked that Dan Goldstein and the crazies at DDDB aren't tying this to the vast Ratner conspiracy!
