saraghina is totally the buttermilk channel of bed stuy. it's like, people take CABS to BC from other parts of brooklyn. and even manhattan. exciting! heh. that said, i am looking forward to checking it out one of these days. it sounds charming.

FiPS is a terrible blog. Beyond childish.

That mouse is so cute. How did they get it to pose long enough for an employee to take photos from front and back? Does it have a modeling contract?

Mouse? That's it, I'm revoking your urban bona fide. This is a Norwegian rat, aka wharf rat, the most widespread mammal on the planet.

click thru to the fixers article. i subscribe to brooklyn based and saw it this morning. it's the coolest thing. i love it. if i had any kind of time, i'd be there.

Oh, nonsense, Maly, it is a clearly a mouse--look at the size of it in relation to those cheesecakes, and at the features of its cute little face. What a happy life it must lead. Not much of a loss, those famous cheesecakes; everything else at Juniors is overpriced and skanky anyway, and the only cheesecake worth eating is the plain one anyway (minus what I call the "strawberry mucus" topping over big, tasteless, hard strawberries, yuck), AND it is really easy to make a "Junior's" cheesecake from scratch. Well, except for the mouse, but if you have some mice you could always add one.

Definitely a mouse.
Mopar, perhaps it's like the Ralph Lauren model - photoshopped to look smaller than it is.

That photo is alongside the Prospect Expressway, right next to where the community is trying to establish an official dog run! Pls sign the online petition at

I have to ask the question that's been burning in my mind for years now, is there even such thing as a health dept in NYC? Or are they a myth? I see mouse droppings, filth and dust in stores and restaurants/cafes all over even in upscale neighborhoods. I saw mouse poop and crusted up grime on the fixture that holds the organic produce at Associated in Park Slope on 5th a couple weeks ago. No other city in the U.S. allows a business stay open in that condition. NYC needs to to do what LA does - post the health dept rating in huge lettering right by the front door of an establishment. It gives the consumer information and power.

Denton -- Thanks for the heads-up. I signed! I actually blogged that photo and updated the post to include information on how to sign the petition.
I didn't even realize it was unofficial -- it's part of why I love that area as much as I do! There have been a few new puppies there lately that just make me melt on my walk home...
