Alan Rosen, owner of the famous Junior’s restaurant in Downtown Brooklyn, responded Wednesday to photos on the web that showed a mouse crawling around its window display of cheesecakes and other pastries (not in the kitchen). He said, “As soon as this situation was brought to our attention on Saturday, we took immediate action to determine the cause. It was addressed professionally.”

Now if they could only address the mediocre food and desserts issue!!!!

not only on the web....I saw it on NY One station.
You don't go to Junior's for the food only the experience.
And NYTimes delivery this morning....big catalog from Halstead but missing most sections of newspaper (only got a and b)

Looks like we already have a contender for the MPPOTD (Most Phallic Picture of the Day).

As to the comment about the MTA and off peak pricing...does any one think that lower prices on the subway will attract more riders now and get people out of cars? Its $2.25 without a metrocard discount. Parking in the city is expensive. all this will do is increase the deficit. Air swiping will cost hundred of millions of dollars and make it so much faster won't it.

As far as I can see, the late night and weekend time periods are FULL of service disruptions. Who wants to have to get off the subway and onto a bus for 5-10 blocks????

only 4 pages of brooklyn props in the catalog. most expensive at $2.88m...and that for mixed bldg on Smith.
Great pic of big open room with lots of window in Sweeney bldg in dumbo for $2.675 with bkbridge in background. I could live there.

Stuy Town decision is out, and it went for the tenants.

Say goodbye to the real-estate bubble...

In mailing a received from MasseyKnakal realty services (more a commercial/multifam broker than condo/townhouse realtor)...they claim in CB6 (cargar/parkslope) prices for multifam-mixed used props down 30% from peak, industrial down 40% and residential dev. sites down 50%. Defined as 2007.
I like this statement - For all except the lucky few who managed to sell during that time, that market never really existed. Realistically, prices were at least 10% lower than that peak for most of the last 5 years.

I sincerely hope they don't institute fare zones for different parts of the city, like they do in London. Riders in the outer reaches of the boroughs have a long enough commute, often have to take a bus to the train anyway, and have far fewer options in terms of subway lines. Most people are out there because they can't afford to live closer to the city. It would be criminal to further penalize them by having them pay more, or to see those closer paying less.

They aren't talking about zone fares....yet. We did away with 2 zone fares years ago and I don't think that when they spend this vast amount of money its only going to give people a discount. I would hate to have them put in the technology that will allow both zone fares and higher rush hour ones.

Posted by: smeyer418 at October 22, 2009 11:11 AM

Fare zoning is not reasonable precisely becuase of the reason Montrose says.

The stretch of Butler in the picture is so bizarre. There are always stripped and abandoned cars, prostitutes in mid-day, and I've even encountered a dead dog. I'm surprised the car wasn't on fire (which I have also seen).

Posted by: bivouac at October 22, 2009 12:47 PM

and which of those reasons above is your primary reason for visiting that stretch of Butler so often?
