the%20sackett%2010-2009.JPG
A bar called The Sackett is scheduled to open in a week or so in the former Latin American Cafe space near the corner of 4th Avenue on Sackett (natch). The watering hole will mainly focus on classic cocktails but will also have four beers on tap and a selection of bottled brews. GMAP

Good be good...the people traffic down 4th Ave. is not a crowd I normally people watch (5th Ave. and 7th Ave. are) but we'll see.

Yeah Rob, I hear ya. I'm just getting the vibe that 'classic' is about stuff like Manhattans, Rob Roys, Martinis, and such that you can get in any Irish bar, rebadged to be 'classic' at double the price. I'm waiting for the barfly's like DH to tell me I'm wrong.

Exactly denton - 'classic cocktails' are all based off 3 drinks - manhattan, martini or gimlet with numerous variations.

To me it means it's going to be one of those $9 a drink cocktail places like Weather Up or that carriage house place in Fort Greene.
