Realty Collective Buys Out Frank Manzione!

In a move bound to shake up the real estate scene in Carroll Gardens, relative upstart Realty Collective has bought old-time Frank Manzione. The new was buried reported deep in a glowing profile sponsored post of the young firm on Brooklyn Based titled "Real Estate Agents Who Aren't Creepy." According to the piece, Realty Collective, which started in 2005 and has thrived by differentiating itself as a group of brokers with artistic leanings and good hearts, tripled its listings when it bought Manzione earlier this month. Seems like a smart move to us: Just moving the old-school franchise into the Internet era should create some value almost overnight.

SPONSORED AD- talk about creepy. Cannot trust a RE firm filled with NYC newbies, especially one that replaced a landmark deli, Latticini Barese.

REAL ESTATE NEWS: Look for "For Rent" sign above old Manzione place in next 6 months.

Oh Brother an "Artistic " broker. Does it now mean that only artists and movie stars can talk to these artist brokers? I remember months back before the housing ninja bubble asset bubble popped I inquired about buying something if housing prices went down. Their answer was no. Housing prices will never go down in Carroll Gardens. Well you know what kind of business they will get with that type of mentality. Your artists are all broke. Cash is king and the smart saving hard working man has that not your artists working for food and drinks.

In other words, they flatter their would-be customers with the conceit that they are, indeed, special people who shouldn't have to deal with normal, grubby brokers.

I dealt with this Victoria once getting an apartment and she acted just like an "artist". Completely flaky, pompous and annoying.

I have to disagree with all the snap judgments above. Realty Collective helped me find my dream apartment this fall. All agents I met and/or dealt with were incredibly accommodating to my needs and knowledgeable about the market in the area. They even fought for me with the landlord to secure the apt for me over an applicant from another broker willing to pay over the listed rent (I was offering below listing). During my search, I dropped my info with every broker in the neighborhood and incredibly few were willing to give me the time of day let alone a call back -- given I wasn't in the market for a $3k/month apt and was very firm about my wants. Victoria wasn't trying to up-sell me, place me in stale inventory, or let me get myself into a financial bind. She understood what I wanted/needed and made it happen. I love mozzarella and provolone as much as the next, but I also love that RC is bringing new life to the CG/Columbia Waterfront district and the rest of BK through honest and considerate realty practices.

Most of us hate real estate agents because they are blood sucking vampires that suck blood from renters until there is no more left. People like you have made brooklyn unliveable for the working man by raising prices in the thousands just so you could collect your commisions. Blood-suckers!

obviously, i paid them a fee but it was a lot easier to digest doing so knowing that it was a fee being paid to someone who did more than post their listing on craigslist and then hand me keys. Yes, using brokers for rentals sucks, but unless you're at the right place at the right time to get your hands on a no-fee listing you're probably going to have to do it. (Even after negotiating the fee down, RC still worked just as hard for it). p.s. hannible, i'm not a broker. just a satisfied customer showing support for a "newish" local business filled with nice/knowledgable people who deserve the chance to succeed.

Well Rel I hate brokers with a pashion and I think that there is no need for them in the current housing market. I hate them because thanks to their blood sucking rents have gone from 1000 dollars a month to 3000 dollars a month. So if they go out of business and get the old mozzarella store I will be very glad. You enjoy your newish stuff. This newish stuff of yours is flushing this country right down the drain California has been flushed already. New York is next.

Hannible, Real Estate Agents have been working this neighorhood long before it became trendy. They are not the cause of rents going sky-high. You just sound bitter due to a bad experience, and not everyone hates Brokers like you do.
