Martha Does The Flea
After the weather caused her to postpone her visit by a day, Martha Stewart brought her film crew, her niece and her french bulldogs to The Brooklyn Flea underneath the Brooklyn Bridge yesterday for a one-hour show she's putting together on Brooklyn and its food scene. She started things off interviewing the Flea founding team (above) and then set off to sample the market's culinary delights. (Brokelyn has a nice round-up here.) The show is tentatively set to air on November 10, but we'll keep you posted. The combination of the weather and the Martha buzz made it by far the most successful day that vendors have had all year, which is great news. Thanks to everyone who came out!

I thought she had chow chows???
In a related story.....
The girls of Scores NYC recently were surveyed on the 10 celebrities they'd like to have "join them on the pole," and the results were surprising. Topping the list was Carmen Electra, followed by Megan Fox, then Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Denise Richards and Jenny McCarthy. Coming in at No. 7 was Martha Stewart ("Maybe she learned a thing or two in prison?" mused one ecdysiast), followed by Pam Anderson and Madonna.
Thanks to brighton beoch for that news item.
Go Martha![/color]

French bulldogs are the great and Martha is a swinging chick. I like her style.

Hey - did they let her bring her dogs in? I have been boycotting the Flea because of the "no dogs allowed" policy... does anyone know if that has changed?
Posted by: brooklynfamily at October 26, 2009 12:02 PM
There are no dogs allowed in Fort Greene as per school policy; they are allowed in Dumbo because it's park property.

Wow, Brooklyn has received the ultimate imprimatur from the media-mogul doyenne of haute-bourgeois style. I hear Detroit is the new Hoboken, people!

Yeah, she had chow chows? That was the one thing I have always liked about her. French bulldogs are not the same at ALL.

I can't imagine Tom Waits liking this at all.

she has chows as well. she is a big animal lover and has tons o' pets. great to know about the dumbo dog-friendly policy.

Her last chow died in a freak propane explosion.

Oh, thanks, Rob - I never would have thought of that.
The couple of times I have been to the Flea (without my dog), I wasn't terribly impressed. Too much overpriced junkyard furniture. Sorry.

Chows are not particularly nice dogs, nor particularly intelligent. They definitely take a back seat to the genial and easy-going French bulldog.

Hey Mr B,
Have you seen the Brooklyn Flea postcard in the CB2 catalog?
Zoom in on the bulletin board on page 17:

Did she "tear a new one" in one of her crew while she was there? She loves doing that.
of course not. there were witnesses present.
