omg! that article about "fairy dust" in concrete. that's whawt makes some sidewalks sparkle?! i never knew that was intentional. i love sparkly sidewalks! fairy dusted sparkly concrete sidewalks > stupid plants and flowers

I'd rather have the stupid plants and flowers. With all of the things wrong with downtown, Mr. Dew should be glad the sidewalk actually got repaved at all. Who cares about "bling" in the sidewalk? Those terrazzo sidewalks tend to be really slippery in the winter, too.

Rob, you ever been to London and rode the subway?
signs letting you know when trains arriving, people don't stand in doorway and block people getting off and on..fewer delays...only problem they don't run 24 hours like here.

and it costs more the further out you go. absurd. as if poor people in the outer boros dont have it hard enough!?

I agree with you on that one, Rob.

honestly, much as the ny subway sucks, i'd much rather have our current 24 hour crappy subway then one that shuts down at night. i remember being surprised at how early transit shuts down in major european cities. and cabs are EXPENSIVE there! of course in an ideal world, they'd fix and improve our crappy 24 hour subway system.

If the subway shuts down at night, the effects on business and night shift workers will be devastating. NYC works 24 hours a day- the subway needs to be running 24 hours a day.

"and it costs more the further out you go. absurd"

Just as absurb as five beers costing more than one, or a plane ride to Tokyo costing more than a plane ride to Buffalo.
