Development Watch: Aloft on Duffield

sheraton-aloft-100509.jpg
Things continue to chug along at the hotel double-whammy on Duffield Street in Downtown Brooklyn. The Sheraton (at left) is almost done, and we hear it should be open by January. The Aloft, which still doesn't have its windows, is on schedule to open by early summer.

I walked by this last week and up close this building looks like it is made of plastic -- really cheap. I can only imagine what it will look like in 10 years.

I hope they have a decent bar and restaurant in there. It'll be nice just walking a few short blocks as opposed to a slightly longer (especially in the winter) trek to Brooklyn Heights or Smith Street or Atlantic Street for a little drink and snack.
