70 Hudson Getting Reconfigured

Over in Vinegar Hill, work started last summer (but has been quiet recently) on a project to convert this two-family-plus-retail building into a single-family residence. We're sure it'll be great for the owners but we'd been kinda hoping that this corner of the woods would become to a couple of more bars or restaurants in the wake of the positive reception the Vinegar Hill House has received. ugh, why should every neighborhood get overrun with bars and restaurants? I think something more practical and less descretionary-income-extractor would be more appreciated.

Within certain blocks of Vinegar Hill (especially within the Vinegar Hill Historic District) retail/commercial establishments are prohibited. I believe this blocks is only zoned for residential use. Many of the homes here were originally used for commercial but are now private residences. Thus, VH residents don't have to worry about businesses coming to their blocks.

I am very glad to hear that those renovations are for residential purposes. One restaurant is enough. The noise generated by VHH is like a loud, drunken frat party EVERY NIGHT. Who wants to live near that?
