Streetlevel: Kent Ave. Duane Reade Opening Saturday

Big news: Duane Reade, one of the three businesses signed up for retail space at Northside Piers on Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, is set to open on Saturday. Word of the ubiquitous drugstore chain's arrival on the Brooklyn waterfront first broke over a year ago; signage confirmed the news back in June.

You know I kinda hate Duane Reade and try my best not to shop there if at all possible, but the newly revamped ones are pretty nice. Much nicer selection of products, and the stores are laid out in a much better fashion.

King's Pharmacy is so great though, and I'm pretty sure they sell cigarettes too?

I like Kings too, but for emergencies, this'll be a much shorter walk for a whole lot of people (especially once these towers fill up). It'll hopefully keep prices somewhat in check too. Much needed, in my opinion.

Quite a distance from the Bedford L stop and not in the middle of the walking crowd around 7th and Bedford area. Wonder why they put it way out there?
