Confirmed: Björk and Barney Take the Heights
The rumor about Björk and Matthew Barney buying in Brooklyn Heights was true! The singer and artist bought a sprawling apartment in a transaction that was recently recorded in public records. (No, we're not going to publish the address.) This much can be said, however: It was a multi-million-dollar purchase at a coveted address. Welcome to the borough!

Someone should warn the 311 operators about this... they're going to get a lot of calls for "strange and frightening noises" coming from folks in this area.

I thought that youngish families didn't move to Brooklyn Heights?
Am I to think that some of the regular posters here are misinformed???

Yea, did they buy in that old-people's home with the penthouse that we were all dissing?

Haven't we been through this before? Perhaps twice already?

As residents they need to do something for BAM's Next Wave Festival.
tyburg6- The door man will be accepting some freaky UPS deliveries no doubt.

Possibly maybe.

I believe that they're making the move in part to put their little tyke into St. Ann's - I happened to be on a parent's tour of the school last year with Mr. Barney and the orange kimono clad Ms. Gudmundsdottir

"orange kimono clad "
She must be trying to keep a low profile.

I love Bjork, but she is hardly a celeb to draw any attention to herself or her family in and around Henry St. As for the orange outfits, she is Icelandic, what would expect?

Just for the benefit of those who are not familiar with Brooklyn Heights, it is the schools, both St Ann's and Packer Collegiate, that attract young families with children to Brooklyn Heights. That is one of the reasons why there are so many young families in the the Heights. There is also the Friends School, Montesorri, Grace Church school, Plymouth Church school. The place is overrun with little kids, which makes it so amusing to read certain posters who think the Heights is an elder community with no young people. Those folks either have an axe to grind or have honestly never set foot in the neighborhhod.

Minard, don't forget about PS 8, which has done a complete turnaround over the past 5 years or so and is now considered an extremely desirable public school. (And for everyone who jumped all over it's "F" rating last year, it was just rated an "A" this year...which, as great as the school is, says even more about how ridiculous that whole grading system is).

Biff, did you get your zimmer frame polished this weekend?
Posted by: dittoburg at September 28, 2009 12:00 PM
Biff, thank you,
I should have added..."and the much-loved PS 8."
People who I know who send their kids there do love it.

Bjork maintains a punishing tour schedule with more than 250 days on the road, capped with several outdoor stadium concerts every year in Brazil, Scotland, Australia, and her native Iceland, performing in front of as many as 90,000 persons.
Matthew will likely be the only one you see around the neighborhood.

Wow, and they bought it under their own names (no LLCs to hide behind here). At full asking price.
