StreetLevel: New Men's Shop Coming to the Slope

hog%20mountain%2008-2009.JPG
A men's store called Hog Mountain will take the spot vacated by the short-lived lingerie shop on 5th Avenue near the corner of Berkeley, according to one of the people behind the venture. The shop is scheduled to open October 15th and will be a "value-based general store" that sells everything from toiletries to clothing basics. GMAP

This makes me happy. I've been saying for a while now that PS needs a good men's shop.

I will be pleased to give this store some business assuming it's well selected.

Bring it.

Hog Mountain? They should start be choosing a less ridiculous name.

Yep, that line *never* gets old. Comedy strategy #27: If it isn't particularly funny the first time, repeat it incessantly and hope for a mercy laugh.

Sounds like an upscale 99 cent store.

Yeah Rob, why are you always dissing 11217 with the "long blonde wig" stuff? 11217 is cool in my book.

Anyway, I'd like to see a Park Slope men's shop. But that name doesn't make me too optimistic.

I've never understood nor really cared to understand why the "blond wig" thing is funny.

Thanks ENY. Like your style as well.

What's that women's store on 5th Ave btw 5th street and 4th street? She had a men's store for a while.

You want a men's store, go to Square D's there on 5th and 8th Street. That's where I get my jeans.

Who needs a Hog Mountain when you can shop in a Hog Heaven?

Posted by: denton at August 24, 2009 3:40 PM

denton 11217 does NOT wear jeans. he wears velvet bellbottoms. im not even making that up! im pretty sure he's mentioned it before shopping at vintage thrift stores.

Never said that before, Rob.

I'm wearing jeans as we speak.

Velvet bellbottoms sound cool, but I don't own a pair yet, sadly.

You sure are special today.

"Velvet bellbottoms sound cool, but I don't own a pair yet, sadly. "

I had one, with a matching jacket, but that was in 1970. In blue, I might add.
