Flushing Avenue Stalls Out

Have you noticed the eerie quiet near Flushing and Marcy near the Williamsburg-Bed-Stuy boundary? As The Real Deal recently reported, the block of buildings across from the Marcy Houses complex hosts an especially high number of stalled construction and vacant buildings. Take 587-589 and 591 Flushing Avenue, for example, two seven-story condo buildings with a total of 30 units, all empty. The buildings along this block—not all vacant, mind you—have been neglected due to stop-work orders, lack of funds, or lack of a buyer (the two condo buildings are on the market, for example, for $15.75 million total, or over $500,000 per unit).
