Closing Bell: Greenest Block in Brooklyn

The annual blue ribbon for the greenest block in Brooklyn goes to Lincoln Road between Rogers and Bedford Avenues. The contest, organized by GreenBridge, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and the borough president's office, judges applicants based on several criteria for one block only, on both sides of the street, such as variety and subtlety of plants, horticultural practice, tree care, and soil. Applicants must be a block association, civic group, or neighborhood organization—in the case of this year's winner, it was the Lincoln Road R&B Block Association. Congratulations Lincoln Roaders! As The Local notes, there were also a number of honorees in the Fort Greene and Clinton Hill area. You can also go to the contest page and view runners up and winners in several other categories. Just a few housekeeping note:
This should be tagged as "Prospect Lefferts Gardens" so it gets properly sorted by neighborhood.
Also probably worth mentioning the neighborhood in the article since that detail is absent for the winning block, despite mention of other neighborhoods also on the list.
Thanks!

Congrats to all of the winners! On a side note, is it just me, or are the majority of contestants from Bed Stuy? Hey, we may have a bad rep, but damn if we haven't got some nice flowers.

Bed Stuy with 12 nominations is the most nominated neighborhood beating its closest competitor (East Flatbush) by seven nominations. And, yet, Brownstoner decides to give Clinton Hill (four nominations) and Fort Greene (one nomination) mention. For a blog that purports itself to be Brooklyn Inside and Out, the bias continues to be very clear.

Congrats to Lincoln 2 as the block is known to us fellow residents of Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
This has always been my nomination for most beautiful block in the neighborhood.

There are many winners, all different neighborhoods, and the contest runs every year. I am proud to say someone from my neighborhood won - even if it is 2nd place - but Burrito Bar and Kitchen won 2nd place for GREENEST STOREFRONT - and this is the second year that restaurant has won... My neighbrohood is Prospect Heights. Check out bbg.org and see all the winners.
