Atlantic Terminal Station May One Day Be Complete!
Check it out! Scaffolding is down at the Atlantic Terminal Station, a project that feels like it's taken 200 years to complete. There's a possibility it may even open one of these days, or years. In honor of the structure's progress, here's a photo gallery of the station through the past couple years.

Not bad. I hope they add the little buck Rogers towers and light window framing as shown in the rendering. That would spruce it up.

I don't think this is so bad. It's pretty good, actually.
The building it replaced is in the background in this link:

It looks good. wish there were interior shots- I wonder if it has that old Penn Station kind of feel inside with the huge windows?

This has only been under construction since, what, 2002?
Posted by: zinka at August 26, 2009 1:25 PM
Phase 1 of the project began 2002, Phase 2 which is the entrance began in 2004. For those keeping track—Empire State Building: less than 2 years to completion. Glorified doorway to the subway:5 years and counting. Way to go MTA.

Blahstoner:
Are you kidding? wow that's crazy that it only took 2 years to build something as huge as the empire state and it's taken then 5 years to build a doorway
jeesuss...

Not that its any justification on this project taking so long, but even at the time, Empire State Building was faaast (actually, less than 1.5 years). The days before strict building and construction permits, and the Great Depression where labor was cheap - couldn't do something like that today if you tried.

Not only was the Empire State building put up in 1 year and 45 days, but official records show only 5 workers died during its construction. Also bear in mind, they did wear hardhats or have the safety gear like today. It was built by about 3400 construction workers and Mohawks, General William(?) Starrett's construction company did the work. An incredible achievement and building.

the empire state building = fugly

looks like a perfect stadium to me.
Why not save money and build another "fancy" floor on top for basketball?
