Streetlevel: The Return of Hot Bird!

Hopefully this won't get lost in the black hole of a Friday afternoon in the Summer cuz it's big news: Hot Bird, the name of two well-loved-but-long-closed BBQ chicken joints in the Prospect Heights area, is making a come back. We first heard from a tipster yesterday and just rode by the new location at the northwest corner of Clinton and Atlantic Avenues to confirm. Indeed it's true: There's a sign for the mailman referencing Hot Bird deliveries and the contractor said it was so. It's supposed to be ready in two months, and that fence means there will be an outdoor dining area. A bonus for the owner: Not having to put up a new sign! Pscyhed? GMAP

I love this sign and the name.

Hah. I remember searching in vain for Hot Bird when I saw the mural sign for the first time. I'll certainly be giving it a try now. Presume they will have to redo the sign to show the new location.

Next they can bring back other late-80s Brooklyn mascots like crack dealers and "No Radio - Already Stolen" signs on car windows.

Oh man. A couple of friends, a little weed, a bottle of wine and hot bird. Some parts of the eighties were just fine, thanks : )
Welcome back!

Hot Bird is the name of a new bar that's opening on the corner of Atlantic and Clinton avenue.... it's unrelated to the old BBQ joint and won't be serving BBQ food... There will be a pretty decent size garden... hopefully about 12 beers on draught... and as far as the opening date... you never really know until it's actually open.

The building next door is vacant and up for rent... and someone is thinking of doing food there...
The lot was a mess for a long time and no one wanted to rent it. A new bar might be boring... but that's what it's going to be...

I believe that Hot Bird was a creation of the very early 90's - not the 1980's - I could be wrong however it was a long time ago

Nope - it was the 80s. If there was hot bird when my kid was an infant (early 90s) we would have been living on takeout.

it was around the 80's very very good chicken
