Streetlevel: Egg Baby to Open in Dumbo

After sitting empty since last year when there was an Indian take-out spot in place for, like, a couple of days, the retail location at the corner of Front and Jay Streets in Dumbo has been getting a make-over in the last month and just last week the new tenant, a baby clothing store called Egg Baby, started to move in. Wonder if it still smells a bit like curry? (It probably wouldn't hurt sales... mmm mmm.)

is there enough of a baby-bearing population in dumbo to support this? even some p.slope places have gone under. good luck none-the-less.

Uh, who else lives there? Last time I was in Dumbo, it was in a dead heat with Park Slope for density of high end strollers.

fair enough. i hadnt noticed many at all, but dont hang out much there, while live in p.slope so am more aware of a) sheer volume of foot traffic (people buy for friends/relatives too) and b) absolute number of strollers/kids.

Martis,
I don't understand the reason for such comments. Here is your quote from June 2008 about Brooklyn's Tiki Bar, which much to your chagrin, is still open.
"this joint will be closed within 6 months ... guaranteed."

Good luck to them, but from what I've seen at work - shockingly enough, ultra expensive baby/toddler clothes have not been selling well in the current economic climate.
Hopefully this store won't be peddling 150 dollar baby jeans and 80 dollar cardigans.
