StreetLevel: Cafe Regular Open on Berkeley

The offshoot of South Slope's Cafe Regular opened earlier this week on Berkeley Place near the corner of 7th Avenue. The owners did a gorgeous job on the shop's renovation, which has an old-timey feel that's similar to the 11th Street original.

They're going head up with a place around the corner, right?

If you've never tried their coffee, you should. IMHO, its the best coffee in Brooklyn. I was pretty amazed at how smooth - but at the same time- rich the coffee is.
Good for them.

Just for clarification, the place on 11th is called Cafe Regular and this new location is called Cafe Regular du Nord.
of the north...get it? cute, huh?
FANTASTIC new place and the coffee and pastries are stellar.
Great that they have some seating outside as well. Going there right now in fact...

I walked by this morning and was delighted to see the outdoor seating (though I wonder if they really have a permit for that?). Will definitely stop by this weekend. Looks gorgeous!

Finally this area has an alternative to the subpar coffee at Ozzie's and Cousin John's.

on my block. went in a couple of days ago in the afternoon. limited seating was full. staff was friendly. iced coffee was great. much better than ozzie's on 7th.

I love Cafe Regular on 11th. Not only do they know how to make fantastic coffee, but their hot chocolate has no peer within miles. Great folks, too. And, even if one doesn't favor the place, their regulars are EXTREMELY loyal! : )
And I just got my best haircut in 20 years next door for $15 !

I love the look of the place. Crazy about white and turquoise, and I like the brown walls inside.

"their hot chocolate has no peer within miles"
Really? Can you describe it? Light, dark, sweet, not sweet? I'm a hot chocolate lover.
Posted by: Nomi at July 26, 2009 4:04 PM
I meant light or heavy, really. Though, I guess heavy would be darker too.

The coffee is great but I was disappointed by the pastry. If your business is about selling coffee and pastries, shouldn't they both be good quality?

I find the pastries amazing...especially the apple turnover and chocolate croissants. They are from Sullivan Street Bakery.
Had more of their pastries over the weekend than I care to admit.
