Checking In On 552 Lafayette Avenue

We wouldn't have expected much from a new building in this location, but 552 Lafayette looks pretty nice. The bathrooms are way too trendy for us, but we like the kitchens and the large loft-like windows make the apartments. Most of the 15 units are priced at around $500 a foot, which doesn't sound like a bargain to us for Bed Stuy, but there have been nibbles: There are accepted offers on two apartments. To try to speed things up, prices on four of the lower-floor units were cut last week, according to data from StreetEasy. Like 229 North 8th Street (another Apts and Lofts project), 552 Lafayette Avenue is FHA-approved and the sponsor will pay up to 5 percent closing costs. There's an open house tonight and Sunday.

I like the looks of these. Don't know much about the neighborhood, but I bet with FHA approval they'll go pretty fast, especially since the starting prices are quite a bit lower than most of the FHA places in Williamsburg.

don't like the balconies, but they look nice inside. I suppose they are ok prices for Bed Stuy, though I wouldn't know...

All I know - if this building was on India St everyone would be saying how ugly the inside was, how dated the outside would look in 5 years and how it's in the middle of nowhere.

But since it's south of flushing "eh, not bad"

All the houses on that block have aluminum siding!

DH--have to be the G train defender once again. This location is a ten minute subway ride from Williamsburg and now that the G has been extended to the slope its a 20 minute ride from the south slope (via Smith Street). Plus if you work in mid town its an easy connection to the E or F or if you work in the Union Square area you can connect to the L at Metropolitan. This is actually a pretty good location for transport.

They are just so small. The only decent sized one is on the first floor with one of those basement levels that are not even consider part of the legal living area. I need a 1 bedroom to be at least 800 square feet.

But wasn't it 2 days ago when everyone was hating on Greenpoint for being in the middle of nowhere and having bad transport? Just pointing that out here (even though it's obviously wrong)

I agree with Adam. I know that area sort of and would happily live there... but you'd have to give me at LEAST 1200 square feet. If not 1600.

apps are awesome!!!!
-half a block away from a G traine.....yes its not the maine traine but who cares if u need to take this traine for 3 stops to get to the L for another 3 and you are in the city!!!!
-washer dryer in a building
-5 closets inside the app !!!!!!!!! and extra storage in a building
-dishwashing mashine in a kitchen
-inside parking
-raine shower heads in bathrooms
-europian hotel hig tech kitchen design

what else can you possibly want from a rental place??lol

..and a space if fare for a place with options like this
