Pequena Expanding to Prospect Heights

The color scheme was the first clue that the new restaurant under construction at 601 Vanderbilt Avenue in the old Barrette space had some relation to Fort Greene Mexican mainstay Pequena. The second clue was that the woman painting the exterior told us it was going to be a Pequena. So there you have it. Happy, Prospect Heightsers? GMAP

LOL Denton.
I walked by yesterday and she actually did a damn good job. Really spruced the place up.
Vanderbilt is awesome, and getting better by the day. Although Barrette was cool too.

I'm with you on that, Denton. And she can paint? She's a keeper.

Why did Barrette shut down so soon? That place was cool--loved the Burlesque...

I was confused by all of this as because I liked it and went often. Well turns out the people that own Barrette own Pequena and a few other places as well as the place that used to be where Flatbush Farm was. They were getting alot of flack from some church about the "dancers" along with other things. So they turned it into a Pequena.
kinda sucks but its the same people there.

The people who owned Barrette do not own Pequena, though those who own Pequena do own several other businesses, such as Moes in Fort Greene.

I'm excited about this placing coming into the neighborhood! Stories about the continuous building in the neighborhood makes me not want to sell my place.
