too bad he couldnt support an american company that needed the support vs. InBev, and joe is a debbie downer.

Hey,
A friend and I are planning on going to most of the First Saturdays event at the BK museum tomorrow. Any PLUSA's that want to join let me know - it was a lot of fun when we did it 2 years ago.
We will probably get there around 6 for the end of the steel band, then go to Washington or Vanderbilt for some drinks and then back to the museum for the other music and teh party. Not planning on any of the highbrow stuff!

So I forgot to mention that while I walked to lunch yesterday, they had an open call auditions for store workers in American Apparel held on 5th and 20th store. Holy moly you guys had to see the line of uber hipsters and wanna be models. It was ridiculous!
Posted by: Kensingtonian at July 31, 2009 9:29 AM
i might be up for that. i think i might be going to the warhol thingie at the bandshell around the same time though. and and last night i walked into the kitchen and my roommates laptop was open and this website was on the screen. lol
hi tom! thanks for the melon cutting tips yesterday, hope they turn out good! (now im wondering if he's randi.) i will have to check posting times hahaha.

HA! kens they have those at a lot of the american apparels. it's basically to weed out the uglies, fatties, and unhip. (seriously) the owner was documented saying that :-/
*rob*
Posted by: PitbullNYC at July 31, 2009 9:32 AM
Yeah I read that Rob. You would think they were standing not for a store job but for a commercial open call or something lol.
Posted by: Kensingtonian at July 31, 2009 9:35 AM
Rob - Here's the info on cell phones:
The Hopeline Program run by the Mayor's Office
to Combat Domestic Violence - reached at (212) 788-3156, accepts donations. You can drop them off at any Verizon store, but it's worth calling to see if perhaps the store closest to you is a participant in the program.
Posted by: Arkady at July 31, 2009 9:37 AM
no, i think the ones who get rejected to be models are offered jobs if they fit the look and are looking for employment. it's a really lame company and i think the chronic advertising on this site, especially that pasty untoned butterface in the one piece swimsuit, is a disservice to this site, but that's neighter here nor there i guess.

Rob, did you see Randi trying to PWN you on the Thursdays' Blogwrap links thread? His attempt was truly pathetic lol.
Do me a favor, email me at BKJester3@aol.com. I have something to ask you/offer you that I don't want to get into on the OT.

"I have something to ask you/offer you that I don't want to get into on the OT."
Is it one of those Russian offers that one can't refuse?
Posted by: Biff Champion at July 31, 2009 9:40 AM
Kens, might be going to see Depeche Mode on Tues night. A buddy called saying he might have extra ticket.
Posted by: more4less at July 31, 2009 9:41 AM
Yeah Biff. I was going to pffer him a job as a "collector" for my "side business". He would need to get cleaned up and we'll need to get him a Monkey Suit just like yours :o).
Posted by: Kensingtonian at July 31, 2009 9:42 AM
Biff, Ken's offer is probably like Hank Paulson telling Ken Lewis - "you'll take it, you'll like it - if you know what's good for you"

THL didn't see it yet. Don't think I will unless you tell me there is more drama then NJ and NY.
I did flip through channels yesterday and caught a glimpse of Miami Social (I think a second or third episode) where they were showing how the Russian gold-digger cut up all of George's clothes because they all got drunk, she fell asleep and he decided to keep on partying with his friends so when she woke up and didn't find him home, she went to his closet and cut up ALL his clothes. He basically had like 2 pairs of jeans left and some t-shirts, that's all.
Posted by: Kensingtonian at July 31, 2009 9:58 AM
The best is Sheree. She got evicted from her old house because supposedly the ex wasn't paying the mortgage. So now she's in a house half the size and she's telling her friend over and over I am SO HAPPY! SO HAPPY!
As though she's trying to convince herself of the fact.
Dwight made an appearance within the first 10 minutes so I was happy as a clam.
This season's gonna be good.

Re American Apparel: it's at 19th St. and 5th Ave. They line up every Thursday and Sunday:
Posted by: rf at July 31, 2009 10:00 AM
THL, I DVR'ed it but didn't see it yet.
"Biffy, did the black shirt and converse work out for you yesterday? Was Taj any good?"
Kens, it turned out fine. Taj was PACKED! It was a nice place and popping, but a bit loud for dinner so we moved on to a place on Park Ave. Then ended up at the Telephone Booth in the East Village, which seemed to have an overabundance of gay Jewish hipsters. Fortunately I had had more than the curiosity-inducing 6 alcoholic drinks at that point and seemed to fit right in.

Really rf? Never seen the Thursday line up before and I work right around the corner. Not like there was anyone my type there. Otherwise, I would be hanging out in front every Thursday
Posted by: Kensingtonian at July 31, 2009 10:02 AM
Dave the finance guy, BklynSoFar had a delightful personal message for you at the end of yesterday's OT.
Posted by: Biff Champion at July 31, 2009 10:04 AM
"an overabundance of gay Jewish hipsters"
My idea of hell on earth.
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at July 31, 2009 10:04 AM
"gay Jewish hipsters"? I would pay to see that.
Biff, they didn't comment on your less than stellar fashion sense?
Posted by: Kensingtonian at July 31, 2009 10:06 AM
Biff I loved BklynSoFar's message. When I started reading it, I thought it was The What after a triple dose of his Medications.
Posted by: Kensingtonian at July 31, 2009 10:08 AM
Hello everyone out there in PLUSA land!!
Kens...I'm going to try. I'm actually on staycation next week and don't know what I'll be doing next Thursday. Who is having a birthday? Mine is the 13th.
Posted by: faithful at July 31, 2009 10:09 AM
Kens, I think I actually might have pulled it off (re-writes welcome) and created the newest fashion sensation. Ok, not likely, but at least I didn't get laughed at; not to my face, anyway.
Posted by: Biff Champion at July 31, 2009 10:10 AM
Re: BklynSoFar...the post was largely incoherent. Anyone who posts that late doesn't deserve a reply anyway. his sentence about what school I went to made absolutely no sense whatsoever so I suspect English is a foreign language to him.
The bubble stuff was kind of funny though.
I suspect he had already started drinking or was abusing some other subsatnce and probably himself as well.

Can a Crown Heights-dwelling PLUSA please volunteer to do preliminary meet and greet with faithful? I can drop off the gender verification kit, along with the instructions for performing the procedure, this evening.

Ellis was quite excited about us PLUSAs dropping in. I think that bodes well for us. I'll be calling them today to give a rough head-count. One thing I realized when I went there was that the outdoor patio is quite small...they do allow smoking out there, but it could get cramped quickly. They are setting aside a space for us indoors, but I may try asking that we get a space in the back so that we can commondeer (sp?) the patio for ourselves as there are numerous smoking PLUSAs.
The trash was taken away...HOORAY!

I can verify faithful's gender. Lovely person (No one lays a finger on her without permission!) I'm watching you, Kens!! |:0
So glad someone else noticed BklynSoFar-. treacly psycho cyberstalker. Don't know who it really is, but its a sock puppet for sure.
Posted by: bxgrl at July 31, 2009 10:38 AM
Kens, no disrespect to Bxgrl, but I don't trust her eyes as well as mine on the gender verification. Since I have quasi-Crown Heights connection, maybe I can do the verification.

bxgrl, I know you're kidding but faithful really has nothing to worry about. Kens is absolutely top-notch. If I had an available sister, I'd set her up with him in a second. In fact, I like him so much I might ask my mom to try to give birth again so that she can have a daughter I can set him up with! Although I don't think he wants to wait a couple decades, give or take.

DIBS, I caught part of GWTW, but mostly just the siege and burning of Atlanta, though I did also catch the scene with "Miss Ellen's portiers" and I love Carol Burnett's version. I'm into Civil War history these days, so I confess I didn't really pay attention to the interiors.
Biff, I realize I lose gay cred on the interiors, but do I score any points for watching GWTW?
Posted by: CarrollGardened at July 31, 2009 10:51 AM
Arkady is right. Mr. B's been very understanding when it comes to the gatherings (and has shown up to all three full-blown ones I arranged). In fact, he put one of my Forum posts about the last gathering on the front page.
But if you want to be sure, just shoot him an email and confirm it's fine. He's very responsive.

DIBS, consumption is precised what/why I got mixed interpretation on it. seems inventory replenishment is powering up the overall but until consumption gets better, just not sure if the "feel good" in the mkt can be sustained.

Something for everyone M4L - Bulls say better than expected (-1% v -1.5% consensus), Bears will say prior period revised down quite significantly (-6.4% v previous reported -5.5%).
I say it's a made up number that has too high a noise-to-signal ratio to be particularly meaningful.
Posted by: the chicken at July 31, 2009 11:43 AM
Chicken, that consumption weakness is what I fear most. if consumption is weak, just find it hard to see how rev can stabilize or grow and there's a limit to how much cost can be cut to boost earnings.
in speaking with relatives & friends back in the Motherland, they're telling me consumption is weak over there too. Heavy Govt spending is single-handedly powering up the econ there
Posted by: more4less at July 31, 2009 11:50 AM
m4l, what if some egogenous force drove up the stock market???? That would make consumer confidence rise with the wealth effect.
We speak weekly with Roger Kubaryck (ex-fed guy & economist at unicredit). he is hearing that there are high level talks between the us & china and one of the proposals that china has made is that they use their USDs to buy US stocks. Both Hong Kong and China have precedent in buying their markets.
They could buy a lot when avg daily dollar value here is $50B -65B
I gotta head out for a lunch now.

Very clear that the only thing they can do with their dollars is buy dollar-denominated assets. Good for equities, bad for the dollar.

Here's the methodology paper if you're having trouble sleeping.
http://www.bea.gov/scb/pdf/national/nipa/methpap/methpap6.pdf
The thing you should care about with consumption is whether people are buying more or less of the goods/services that you care about.

Kensingtonian do me a favor. Go to the Brownstoner archives and look at one year ago.
The What Vs. DIBS and Biff! This gave birth to the "Brownstoner get together" On Aug 1, 2008 I said the markets was going to crash and everyone laughed! On the very same week of the first party the Markets went Tango Uniform! That party was set up to laugh at me but I laughed at every one else!
This time I predicting a FULL THERMAL NUCLEAR ASSULT in 90 days. This should take around the start of Basketball season. All of the lies will come to the surface-- Our Banking System is insolvent and we are in a DEPRESSION. I'm tired of going over the details and the new flock of Retards will laugh this time too.
I wonder what going to happen in 2010 when everyone realizes the game is over. The Kleptocracy has scammed the Tax Slaves, the stimulus money has been stolen and Obama is not "GOD"?
80% of the Retards was not in New York on 911 and have no idea how violent this city can be. I hope you try to "Hold on' with both hands and feet because you need them...

100% true, except the party was on October 16, 2008.
"That party was set up to laugh at me but I laughed at every one else!"
Not true. The concept for the first gathering was initially thrown out by me in jest but it started sounding like a good idea and people started getting excited about meeting some of their favourite online fellow 'Stoners. Truth is What, you are the most discussed poster by far during these gatherings and I think you would be shocked at some of the positive things people say at you. Most people don't laugh at you.

What, I don't believe DIBS meant any harm whatsoever by using the word nobody likes and I don't believe you mean any harm by using the other word either. However, my own preference would be to never hear either of them again. But (at least supposedly) one is free to say whatever one wants in this country.

I was in the city on September 11, 2001. In the financial district, in fact. Got to work around 8:40 a.m. that day. Putting aside the acts of a few murderous terrorist assholes, the city was pretty much the opposite of violent. I don't think I have ever witnessed human cooperation and compassion and civility on such a large scale and doubt I ever will again.
You on the other hand clearly were not there.

"Actually, biff the first b'stoner was you, me, MM, dave and Nokilissa. That was before all the end of the world party hoopla."
bxgrl, absolutely. I was referring to the first one that was ever announced here and for which everyone was informed and invited. And it's the one What is talking about that was born out of his 90 day prediction. At the end of the day, we have to admit that many friendships were forged because of the October 16 gathering and those subsequent to it. And sixyears has acknowledged that without The What and NY Mag, he never would have found the site and met jessibaby. What is a better matchmaker than any of us!
Posted by: Biff Champion at July 31, 2009 1:21 PM

"ENY, you didn't hear we got the 2nd best player from Draft that yielded Lebron?"
M4L, I've been hearing about Knick draft picks, player trades, acquisitions, new coaches, new GMS, etc. since Patrick Ewing was here. If anything the team has grown steadily WORSE. I'll believe they're on the upswing again when I SEE it.

"I can still rememeber that awful buring rubber/electrical fire smell"
I'll never forget the smell. You couldn't keep it from permeating the house. I was standing on my roof with my tenants, with neighbors on their roofs as far as the eye could see, and we watched the 2nd plane hit and both Towers fall. My old secretary died in Tower 1, and I had a client escape from the 105th Floor of Tower 2 literally about 2 minutes before the plane hit she told me. And I'll never forget the ash falling all over Brooklyn - like nuclear winter - and the paper; I have a folder full of paper that I picked up in the garden and on the stoop and sidewalk, mostly from high floors of Tower 2, which I'll donate to the memorial museum when they finally build it.

herk, it's your call. Most of us use our logins, but a few - like Dave/DIBS, use their first name. I'm on the fence about it, so I use my login. A handful know my real first name. We usually have name tags.

thanks CH, I was just curious (that word again!). I sort of like the idea of using the aliases... I couldn't imagine, for example, meeting Biff Champion and NOT calling him (her? have you been gender verified?) "Biff". Do people call you cobble short?

"I couldn't imagine, for example, meeting Biff Champion and NOT calling him (her? have you been gender verified?) "Biff"."
Last I checked I'm a "him". While that was a few hours ago, I'm fairly certain nothing has changed since that time. I prefer to be called Biff at these gatherings. I think only one PLUSA knows my real name (Biff Wellington).

I have not signed up for the WTC health monitoring program. At around 9:30 am or so on the day of I decided to get out of there and was clear of the ash/dust zone by the time the towers came down. I was in Chinatown by the time the first tower fell and somewhere between LES and midtown by the time the second tower fell. I suppose I breathed in the downtown air throughout that autumn, but I have always assumed it was the initial burst of ash/dust and direct on-site cleanup that put people in high risk groups. As I'm reading this I see the word "assumed" and yes, anticipate the obvious response.

ENY, I was kidding with the #2 Draft (Darko) comment. I actually think Knicks downfall started when they out-bid themselves in signing Houston to that massive contract (ie over-paid by 3-4M per yr on that 6 yr contract). That 3-4M could've allowed us to keep Ewing instead of shipping our man to Seattle

lechacal, I wonder about that too. At the time, I was working down near Water & Whitehall. And almost everyone in my office developed a cough, despite our being told the air quality was 'fine'. A few are in the monitoring program, due to the fact that they had to be down there even while the offices were closed [for about a week afterwards] to manage the IT systems.
Posted by: cobblehiller at July 31, 2009 2:46 PM
so PLUSAs can self gender-verify? What a relief!
Biff, you must take a lot of flak for your real name. Do people ever think you've said "beef"? Sometimes, if I have a cold, and i meet somebody new, they think I've introduced myself as "Broadway". So painful.
Cobble, I'm not short either. Maybe we can keep each other company by standing in the back, getting ripped and making fun of the karaoke singers!

That doesn't count. Grace has short hair and is Jamaican American. You were likely tipsy. It was probably a dimly lit bar and you thought she was your perfect guy.

dh, cheap maragaritas by the glass at least (not sure about the pitcher), and cheap beer, at the 79th Street Boat Basin Cafe. I discovered this place a couple of years ago, long after I moved from the UWS. It gets crowded, but still a fairly well kept secret IMHO.

DIBS and Grace not surprising, remember her blond and pale BF, Dolph(sp?) Lundgren. He ended up co-habitating with an asian BF. The woman was a great songstress, just had trouble with stairs, saw her fall down and go boom at the tunnel in the 80s twice.

DH - did you diss Ernest Borgnine?
Posted by: dittoburg at July 31, 2009 3:36 PM
Most definitely NOT dressy, dh. They have red & white plastic checkered tablecloths on the tables so it has the feel of hanging out in someone's backyard and getting drunk. When it starts to get crowded, and the sun starts to go down, grab your margaritas and head for the very back of the restaurant - there's a path out back, along the river, and they have those white metal mesh stacking garden chairs, which they let you take a ways down the path along the river, and you can sit and watch a beautiful sunset over the river while getting drunk on their rather strong drinks.
Posted by: CarrollGardened at July 31, 2009 3:36 PM
this place needs more t-shirts and ratty sneakers:

Love Tortilla Flats, and the Ernest Borgnine connection. Y'know, EH calls in every year on his birthday. I used to go there all the time when I lived on West 12th & Hudson in the 80s-90s, when, yes, ditto, there were many types of meat in the Meatpacking District! Hard to believe Tortilla Flats has survived all these years. (I noticed recently that the building on 12th & the West Side Highway that used to house Gulf Coast and other restaurants was torn down.)

Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at July 31, 2009 3:57 PM
CGar, you, me and jessi should coordinate an after work power walking club for those of us who walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill.
Posted by: Biff Champion at July 31, 2009 3:59 PM
CGar, what time do you usually walk?
Posted by: jessibaby at July 31, 2009 3:59 PM
sixyears, since you are a man of leisure until school starts again, you should join the PLUSA Power Walkers too.
Posted by: Biff Champion at July 31, 2009 4:01 PM
Count me in for a power walking club.
Jessi, I typically leave work around 6pm, then take the train to City Hall/Brooklyn Bridge, which puts me on the bridge about 6:20-6:30, but I have some flexibility in my schedule (earlier or later).
Biff, I keep thinking you're going to run me down with your bike, as I have to keep dodging into the bike lane (which I know is verboten) to pass all the very slow walking, picture taking tourists.
It's great exercise. My former law partner lost 50 pounds walking from Cobble Hill over the bridge every morning, and he still does it every day to maintain his new weight.
Posted by: CarrollGardened at July 31, 2009 4:08 PM
Wheh, made it to Penn Station before the rain let loose.

"Biff, I keep thinking you're going to run me down with your bike, as I have to keep dodging into the bike lane (which I know is verboten) to pass all the very slow walking, picture taking tourists."
CGar, I know what you mean. When I walk the bridge, I'm always passing everyone, looking backwards and forwards to be sure I'm not about to get run over by a speeding cyclist. I usually ride my bike but would walk more if I knew I had others to keep me company.

Posted by: CarrollGardened at July 31, 2009 4:11 PM
I'd join you guys - but I walk over a different bridge to get home :(
Posted by: dirty_hipster at July 31, 2009 4:15 PM
ROFL, Biff! While you're turning around to make sure you're not going to get run down by a biker, you end up walking into a camera-toting tourist. I don't know what your preferred "commute" hours are, but, as I said, my schedule is flexible, so let me know any time you want company. I'm thinking of adding some morning walks, too, but not until the humidity lets up, or I'll need a shower by the time I get to work.

I don't think JB would like that idea - and in any case, you're the champion gender verifier, so I leave it to you.

Yes, will still be in BH, just on the north end. The house, like the three single lady inhabitants, is totally cute.

Just got back and sorry to be late to chime in on the health registry. If you were closeby- especially within the first few weeks, you should register and get a physical. That's all you have to do basically. Mt. Sinai gives you a complete physical and monitors. I'm sure Biff is in the high risk group, I'm in a somewhat less high risk group. I haven't had any problems (that I can tell) but several people who came to work long after September, and only worked a few days or weeks, have gotten ill. The question is how much of it is really related to 9-11. That said- it can't hurt. The air quality was not fine. even as late as April they were still telling us to wear masks.

"I'm sure Biff is in the high risk group"
bxgrl, I've actually been fortunate and my health is very good. No signs of problems so far. I wasn't around Ground Zero too much after that day. Our office relocated to a different area a few weeks later and we telecommuted in the meantime. I spent a lot of time out of town with my father right afterwards as he was very sick (and ended up passing away a few weeks after 9/11).

"Sixy: You best glaze your tub before it is the scene of any bubble baths..."
Indeed. That's most certainly a candidate for some good rewrites...

Oh wow, biff. That must have been awful. Glad your health is holding up.
Posted by: bxgrl at July 31, 2009 4:49 PM
bxgrl, yes, it was the worst time in my life by far. Nothing comes close to it. Anyway, I have a lot to be thankful for and am a pretty positive person.
On a lighter note, jessi, we should arrange a mini soiree with your new roomies, sixyears, DH, Kens et.al. in our neighbourhood. Email me when you think you and six are free and I can coordinate with DH and Kens.

Oh, SNAP!!
Hey now, I posted on here about reglazing a tub a few days ago and none of you PLUSAs responded. Help a guy out for once! :)
Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at July 31, 2009 4:53 PM
JB, DH knows not what he just said. He's no playa. He's a strict 1-lady-at-a-time guy. It's his youth speaking. Not his heart.
DH, read the handbook again and memorize it this time. rule #6 says "put forth best face to middle-person so he/she has best perception of you and be in prime position to for a fruitful introducton"
Posted by: more4less at July 31, 2009 4:53 PM
so 1 for DH, 1 for Kens, who's got dibs on the 3rd cute single lady?
Posted by: more4less at July 31, 2009 4:39 PM
No I don't.
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at July 31, 2009 4:53 PM
DIBS, I posted a very appropriate response to your tree forum post
Posted by: more4less at July 31, 2009 4:54 PM
Biff, I know your real name. It's becoming a badly kept secret.
I also met Grace Jones a couple of times. She was friends with my late boss, and they used to get together when Grace was in town. She was very quiet and nice, not like her stage persona at all. She's not 6'5" in person either, which also belies her stage persona. I do have to say that she looked incredible, and has the most amazing skin I've ever seen on anyone. Flawless.

PLUSA Power walking club. I defer to management but will this be on the same lines as the nonexistent PLUSA handbook, presently being ghostwritten by our nonexistent management?
Posted by: bxgrl at July 31, 2009 4:56 PM
Missed the post about your Dad, Biff. So sorry.

Darth Vader has finally left the building, so I'm outta here. That's how the pecking order works. If I was gonig for Chinese food, I would then have to worry about the Peking order.
Have a great weekend everybody.

I like that the walking club now has a name, bxgrl. Since Biff already bikes and walks, and I already walk - Jessi I'm not sure (Jessi - you already walking the Bridge?) - this may be "existent". It can the PLUSA version of Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp.

m4l, and I've re-engaged the What and BHO in the Six Months thread as I was getting bored here as well.
I think they've both already boarded the Jitney for their "mancation" together.
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at July 31, 2009 5:02 PM
haha i kid i kid of course.

I saw the Six Months entanglement, DIBS. That was pretty funny. Are you on the train to PA for the weekend?
Posted by: CarrollGardened at July 31, 2009 5:09 PM
DIBS, think I might've hit Antidope a little "too on-the-mark" that he has nothing to say. Hey, that's what you get when you attack this CHINAMan with an uncalled for "bromide" and "pathetic" references.
hey, you get consistent internet coverage throughout your train ride? 3G wireless tech is great

> I also met Grace Jones a couple of times.
Very cool, Montrose. I often wondered if her daily self was like her onstage persona or not.

Hello, dibs, re: daveinbedstuy at July 31, 2009 10:12 AM
Thank you dibs, I like you. That is only partly true about foreign languages -haha. Dibs, I wonder if you were reading past 5 pm :-). I cannot get online earlier, nor read every post.
I'll find more accurate quotes of the bubble thing and get back to whomever.
Posted by: BklynSoFar at July 31, 2009 5:15 PM
Hey, Snark, did she do "La Vie en Rose"? Love her version of that song.
Posted by: CarrollGardened at July 31, 2009 5:15 PM
Yep, on the train...pretty consistent coverage except sometimes lose the connection near some lake in PA or NJ, can never remember where it is. it's the weirdest place and may actually be a reservoir but its got all these white trash seasonal cottages along the shore right next to the tracks!!! I'd love to have something like that where you can just sit there and drink beer with everyone else in a wifebeater.
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at July 31, 2009 5:18 PM
What's dibs' equivalent of a wifebeater?
Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at July 31, 2009 5:24 PM
re Grace Jones
In the UK she's probably best known for this incident (edited highlights, only footage I could find):

She did. She was wearing the big pointy red costume that I linked to earlier.
She also did "I've Seen that Face Before (Libertango)" while dancing around the stage with the mannequin thing:

Alright, I'm outta here. Happy weekend to all and to all a good weekend.
Posted by: DitmasSnark at July 31, 2009 5:36 PM
Thanks, Snark. She looks good. The .jpg I can open, but videos are impossible at work.
25 more minutes of watching paint dry, and I'm outta here. I get that someone in my group needs to cover on 1/2-day Fridays, but its D-E-A-D here, and I now know how the Cabinet member left behind during the State of the Union address feels!
Posted by: CarrollGardened at July 31, 2009 5:38 PM
no one else is working the weekend? oh happy day!
Posted by: dirty_hipster at July 31, 2009 5:45 PM
dh, I actually have to work a rare Saturday tomorrow (morning at least). There's an upcoming server migration that requires testing. No one wanted to come in, so I volunteered as long as I can take Monday off instead.
Posted by: CarrollGardened at July 31, 2009 5:49 PM
Free at last. Last one at the office - and it seems the OT - so I'm turning off the lights. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey, What, enjoy your vacation. I do hope you'll come back to gloat about the crash (whether we have one or not).
Posted by: mopar at July 31, 2009 6:06 PM
What -- have a good trip! I appreciate you. Some people here do not like it that cobble and I communicate with you. What, whoever you are -- you have a dynamic quality about you. Best to you.

For more about Bubbles: go to Google and choose "credit bubbles in history", if one chooses to.
About Bubbles and incoherence, here is what the Jerusalem Post says:
"In short, bubbles play out in la-la-land - and nowhere else."

More from above:
" ... an entire civilization, loses its collective rationality, detaches itself from accepted behavioral norms and willingly suspends its natural disbelief in absurd concepts. In short, bubbles play out in la-la-land - and nowhere else."
"The basic fact about bubbles is that they are not economic or financial phenomena but rather stem from processes belonging to the fields of sociology and mass psychology."
