Streetlevel: New Caribbean Restaurant for Myrtle

330-Myrtle-Avenue-Brooklyn-0609.jpg
According to this banner that was recently hung at 330 Myrtle Avenue between Carlton and Washington Park, there's a new Caribbean joint in the works, and, judging from the name, Sans Souci, it's likely to have some French influences. (Or it could be a couples-only restaurant!) GMAP

Sans Souci was the name of a palace built by Henri Christope in Haiti. It was supposedly named after a former opponent of his during the time of the Haitian Revolution, who was born in Africa and widley known for his courage and valor.

"sans souci" meanse "without worries/cares" in French - hence it is a relatively popular name for small hotels etc.

The is a San Souci town or Village in at least 3 caribbean islands: Haiti, Trinidad, I think Jamaica and D. republic as well so who knows where the cuisine will go.
