Slope Century 21 Franchise Calls it Quits

old%20century%2021%205th%20ave.JPG
Add another one to the growing list of shuttered brokerage storefronts: The Century 21 franchise on 5th Avenue between 8th and 9th streets is evidently out of business. Workers were clearing out the office last week. No word on what's going in the space next. GMAP

Does this mean we will now be spared those shitty Century 21 ads for Brooklyn properties???!!!!

Nope, there is still Corcoran and BHS.

If only Subway would go along with it.

And other Century 21 offices.

Awwww... this is heartbreaking.

I've been really quite pleasantly surprised to see how quickly shuttered storefronts on 5th Avenue have landed new tenants recently.

Will keep you posted if I see specifically what any of them become.

Oh, I do know that Lululemon is opening on Bergen between Flatbush and 5th, next to the soon to open, Bark Hot Dogs (I peeked inside the other day, and it looks awesome). I think those 2 places will pretty much complete that lovely strip of shops on Bergen.

Hard times or not, I can't say I'm surprised, because our experience with this office was dismal: we were seriously interested in one of their properties, and they really couldn't be bothered about it - calls not returned, 30 minutes late for appointments, etc etc. To say nothing about the above-mentioned quality of their ads. It's another lesson for all of us small-business folks: service is king.

Newsflash! This office closed months ago.

Ditmas:

I was going to mention that also. MONTHS. I remember walking by maybe 2 or 3 months ago and it was closed up.

Yes, this closed months ago and was fully cleaned out and emptied at that time. The good news is that the activity you saw last weeks seems to indicate a new tenant getting ready.

News is nice but we would like to hear Cocorean going out of business and moving back to their hippie hoods
