ok DIBS, lets hear the synopsis for the house.
Posted by: Kensingtonian at June 23, 2009 9:23 AM
nevermind, just saw it in the Forum.
Posted by: Kensingtonian at June 23, 2009 9:24 AM
I read the news today oh, boy......
Ed McMahon RIP
Posted by: Expert Textpert at June 23, 2009 9:28 AM
Kens...it's on the Forum..I posted it as you were getting out of bed.
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at June 23, 2009 9:34 AM
I was just on the first floor of the school where I work, and the supply guys were cleaning out the massive storage room. They found a reel-to-reel film projector from the 1970s still boxed and wrapped and presumably in pristine condition. Your tax dollars at work!
Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at June 23, 2009 9:34 AM
that 1970's pristine film reel has more IQ points than 99 percent of NYC's dumbass schoolkids.
it's shocking just how stupid kids are in the NYC public system. (ive been reading a few articles about them lately).
oh and im in a good mood today. WOO WOO
*rob*

Stupid, or just ignorant?
Posted by: dittoburg at June 23, 2009 9:41 AM
morning all
anyone care to talk about the whole Perez Hilton/Will.I.Am bru-haha???
Posted by: gemini10 at June 23, 2009 9:41 AM
gemini...I don't know who any of those people are. I did hear that Chris Brown got off lightly.
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at June 23, 2009 9:44 AM
I got a Rob ROTD.
Met an awesome girl, totally cool, FREAKIN HIPSTER!
Transplant for Philly, works in PR, live somewhere on LES/Soho (I was surprised not willyburg). Dresses semi-hipsterish. Didn't dress like one when I met her but then I facebook stalked her pics and she totally has that hipsterish fashion sense.
THIS SUCKS!
Posted by: Kensingtonian at June 23, 2009 9:45 AM
gem10, link?
Chris Brown got off with probation, not surprisingly.
Posted by: Kensingtonian at June 23, 2009 9:46 AM
'it's shocking just how stupid kids are in the NYC public system.'
Every last one of 'em?! Not that Rob is stereotyping or anything...

I saw a really hot looking black guy on the train, kinda hipsterish, with tight black jeans.

RHofNJ Reunion tonight!!!
Posted by: faithful at June 23, 2009 9:53 AM
This should be good!
Posted by: Kensingtonian at June 23, 2009 9:56 AM
yeah it's creepy how black kids and young black guys are all hipsterish and skaterish now. kinda lame. i think they look hotter thugged out to be honest with you.
*rob*
Posted by: PitbullNYC at June 23, 2009 9:58 AM
faithful, I think it's a two parter with the second part on Thursday like the last RHofNY reunion. While the finale was good, the Last Supper show was a bit much. Showing the same table flipping scene what seemed like 100 times was annoying.
Posted by: Biff Champion at June 23, 2009 9:59 AM
oh yeah watching the last supper episode i kept thinking wtf ive seen this before. was i drunk? wtf? it was the same exact show. i was so confused.
so tonight is a real reunion? im not a big fan of reunion shows. unless there is slapping, punching, kicking, and face spitting, ala the rock of love and charm school shows.
*rob*
Posted by: PitbullNYC at June 23, 2009 10:02 AM
I agree with the last table part was a bit much.
BTW, I had this discussion with a friend yesterday about Caroline's "Thick and Thieves" comment. Is it truly an old school mobster term?
Posted by: Kensingtonian at June 23, 2009 10:02 AM
i couldn't stand caroline's accent. is that really a jersey accent? i was born in jersey and lived there for most of my life, i never really hard that accent before. that accent so sounds long island to me.
tho, i have noticed my sister has a really F'ed up accent.
*rob*
Posted by: PitbullNYC at June 23, 2009 10:11 AM
Kens, I was wondering about that too. By the way, did you ever notice the way all of them talk in the confessional interviews? It's always the same pattern. Caroline does it the most, then Dina and so on.
Typical solo interview with Caroline:
"Do I like to eat peanut butter? Yes"
"Do I like to each chocolate? Possibly"
"Do I like to eat peanut butter and chocolate together? Absulutely!"
Posted by: Biff Champion at June 23, 2009 10:13 AM
'Thick as thieves' is a pretty common phrase. Would not associate it with the mob specifically.
Posted by: etson at June 23, 2009 10:13 AM
Rob, Glad you're feeling lighter today!! : D
Oh yes! I am all set for the RHoNJ reunion, and I think there will be *fireworks* based on the ads for it!
Posted by: cobblehiller at June 23, 2009 10:13 AM
Someone "in yesterday's" open thread asked the hours of the high line.
Summer hours: 7am - 10pm
Posted by: Expert Textpert at June 23, 2009 10:14 AM
agreed on the table part at the Last supper - it was shot from various angles and at first proved humourous then went overboard
Kens - not sure if it's a mobster term, but I have used it for many years - it might ne a NY(boro) kinda phrase.
Rob - black kids have been skatboarding for decades- come on now! it's just funny to me that for once, black kids are taking a nod from white youth on style of dress....
Posted by: gemini10 at June 23, 2009 10:14 AM
DIBS, did you have any luck donating that aquarium to your local elementary school? If you didn't, our science department will have a use for it (don't worry, it won't disappear into storage for 30+ years).
Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at June 23, 2009 10:14 AM
black kids now copy white kids out of revenge for white kids copying black kids. it's rather lame. no one has any real originality.
*rob*
Posted by: PitbullNYC at June 23, 2009 10:16 AM
it would however blow my mind if black kids actually started their own surf culture. they have the land and accessibility to it. just DO it already. isnt that surf shop that just opened up in rockaway banking on that possibility!?

Posted by: PitbullNYC at June 23, 2009 10:18 AM
one particular style i'd like to see go are those ridiculously bedazzled-out Ed Hardy Tshirts etc?
ugh those have been "OVA" for like 3 years now, but black kids are still rockin' them
Posted by: gemini10 at June 23, 2009 10:18 AM
Make that "Absolutely".
And how many times will they say "blood is thicker than water" tonight?

Cobblehiller:
Another staycation idea....
Cloisters and Fort Tyron Park.
Visit the museum with it's fine collection of medieval art and wonderful courtyards. Pack a picnic and enjoy Fort Tyron Park that was designed by Olmstead Jr., walk the many paths or just enjoy the promenades high above Manhattan and overlook the Hudson and Palisades.
Posted by: Expert Textpert at June 23, 2009 10:25 AM
Ugh - hate ed hardy shirts. i think that's more jerz/staten island guido now then black though.
Posted by: dirty_hipster at June 23, 2009 10:27 AM
Expert, thank you! That's a good one. I'm ashamed to say that I have never been to the Cloisters. Bad cobble, bad! ; )
I saw a piece on PBS about the restoration of the tapestries in the museum. That was pretty fascinating.

Posted by: Biff Champion at June 23, 2009 10:30 AM
DH- dunno I see lots of kids riding the train wearing that stuff.
I just think style for men has been sorta blech!
My poor husband always feels defeated after coming home from clothes shopping - like "No I don't want to wear a Tshirt that's lime green and pink with a large logo on the front"
Posted by: gemini10 at June 23, 2009 10:31 AM
Thick as Thieves originally meant as stupid as a criminal (who presumably had been caught) - head was so dense an idea couldn't get into it. Now it means 'tightly knit'.
Posted by: Arkady at June 23, 2009 10:32 AM
The Cloisters is a great idea for a day out. Probably works better when (if) it's a sunny day. I went for the first time a couple of months ago. It's amazing how well they have preserved some of the very old exhibits.

Randi you are the definition of a troll.
1.) you started posting on this site calling everyone derogatory names left and right.
2.) then you started targeting people individually and bringing them up in random threads.
3.) now you troll the OT specifically and insinuate the dumbest things.
you sir, or madame, are NO fine black woman! they don't act the way you do.

I like to thank all the PLUSAs for their continued support. I couldn't do it without you mom and pop and I like to thank Brownstoner for creating the platform for PL of the day award!
In all seriousness Randi, I said "I don't think". Feel free to explain to me how it is and I'll be the first to admit I am wrong. We are all entitled to our opinions, right? You didn't say gay or homo, you used "faggot" which in my dictionary is very derogatory (on the level of an 'N' word).

Yes, Kens, "faggot" is as bad as "nigger." Both are typically used in the same tone and for the same effect. Both will get you an upgrade to a hate crime when assault is involved. Oddly though, both are used by repective members of both groups amongst themselves.
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at June 23, 2009 11:25 AM

Oh thanks bxgrl, but my outing days are behind me!!
Can't join you. Maybe next time I can go to 'an octopus' garden with you'.
You ladies enjoy the Cloisters and the park, bring a picnic and a blanket.
In Brooklyn, you should go to Greenwood, that's lovely this time of year.
Posted by: Expert Textpert at June 23, 2009 11:57 AM
DH, you'll need alot more than a few glasses of wine to buy one of those. Heck, I would go for free booze.
bxgrl, can I come to Cloisters too if I am free? (I've never been either and having a tour guide like Montrose will be priceless. I'll even car service everyone :o).
P.S. bxgrl - the Russki culture shock trip will be scheduled sometime next month. I need to work out the details with the Master Planner Biff at some point.

Posted by: slopefarm at June 23, 2009 12:01 PM
Hahaha guys - I'll be careful!
I've been surfing the web and it seems alot of these buildings in Williamsburg that are away from the waterfront are doing some real creative things to move these things - i believe mr b touched on it last week but i've been seeing developers offering:
FHA approved 3.5% downpayments
closing costs payed for
big price chops
while i'm not really interested in buying in north brooklyn - i can see how it would be attractive for someone to buy a place in the neighborhood and only pay 1,700 for a mortgage on a *nice* place rather then paying 2100 a month in rent for an old railroad 1 bedroom.
Posted by: dirty_hipster at June 23, 2009 12:02 PM
wow DH, those are some good incentives but the horror story that was posted about mgmt company being in cahoots with the builder in a new construction a couple of days ago would have me scared shitless to buy in a new condo. I am happy I have a hole in a wall in a financially stable co-op at times like these.

By the way, I saw cornerbodega on the A train last weekend. His sales pitch went like this:
Hello, ladies and gentlemen, I'm the published author of three books. The first is called "Corner Stores in the Middle of the Block," because in my neighborhood, there are corner stores in the middle of the block. The second is called "Pretty Ugly." The third is called "Don't Beat Your Children or They'll End Up Like Me."
There followed a recitation of several poems, all with anti-gentrification themes.

"JB and I have our own theory about why the what is gone"
Now you can't say something like that and not give details! Especially as he is probably reading, and might be tempted to unleash if he feels it is wrong.
Anything to do with the Grand Ave house weirdness by any chance?! He seemed to have some inside knowledge there.

Cobble, have you been to governours island? There's a free ferry on saturdays from brooklyn and front and rental bikes on the island, though bikes are allowed on ferry too. Also giant red hammocks on the southern side that look out on the bay and lady liberty.

Kens, thanks for the compliment, but Bxgrl knows more than I do about medieval art itself. I can generally blather on, and know a fair bit about the architecture. Between the two of us, you will probably get more information than you wanted, and will heartily wish for us to get in the path of some jousting and medieval swordplay.

DeLepp, I went to Governor's Island a couple of weeks ago during the arts festival. It was fabulous. Even without the festival, it is an amazing place to visit.
sixyears, you think The What was banned by Mr. B?
Posted by: Biff Champion at June 23, 2009 12:43 PM
DeLepp, Yes indeed we have, we went with a friend at the beginning of last summer. We didn't take bikes, but will sometime this summer for sure.
We were trying to go see the Philharmonic, but it was rained out despite the rain ending early. But we decided to just go across and see the island anyway. We saw some interesting art scattered through out the buildings. Well worth the trip! Will have to look for the hammocks - BH does love a good hammock! ; )

[The new Standard hotel is] intended as an accessory to the city’s new High Line “park” — a weed-filled 1.5 mile-long stretch of abandoned elevated railroad right-of-way. We do everything stupidly now in the United States. Stupidity is the new fashion sensation! And the Standard is the new Ground Zero of Fashion! In this project, mistakes are artfully multiplied and layered — for instance the assumption that New York City doesn’t need railroad tracks anymore. Or the notion that buildings don’t have to relate to the street-and-block grid. Instead of repairing the discontinuities of recent decades we just celebrate them and make them worse. That’s decadence at its purest.

O.k., I'm late to the party. Where to start?
Governors Island- I spent a LOT of time there when I dated someone in the Coast Guard in the early 90's. Beautiful, Pristine, It's a treasure. I hope it stays that way.
Perez v. Will.i.am- I lost ALL respect (what little was left) for Perez when he called Will a Faggot. Perez took a slight shoulder bump in a crowded hallway and singlehandedly escalated it into a bitch fight. Then he starts twittering like mad about he was assaulted (slapped) and that he needs the police, violence is never an answer, blah blah blah. I can't even, it's ridiculous. Poor Will.
RHNJ Reunion? I'm so excited. I'm going to miss these broads. Especially Caroline. I just love her (and her hot son Albie).

I actually have someone who's shown interest in taking them. The thing is, the last time we though we had someone who definitely wanted to take on the other two I got them spay/neutered (they were about to go into heat and I didn't want the little girl getting prego) and I let them stay inside after the surgery because I was sure they would take them (that and it was below zero, snowing and she had a bald belly). So this time I'm trying to line up back-up takers. Worst case, They end up getting spade/nuetered and they live out back. I'd like to avoid that though. There are already so many and it's rough out there for them.
So if you know anyone interested please let me know! They go to the first taker (I'd prefer they stay together. They are joined at the hip almost literally, they walk leaning against each other).
Thanks!

"didnt someone do a reverse IP search and find out the what's IP was coming from Brownie's office?"
I don't think we quite got that far. I caught what responding to a BHO post that what had apparently read but BHO hadn't yet posted. Or vice versa (it's been a while). The what actually caught himself, too, and was quite a good sport about it. I found him quite endearing that day. Before that, wasder, biff and others had been theorizing about the connection.
Posted by: slopefarm at June 23, 2009 3:04 PM
slopefarm I think that theory is flawed. BHO is coherent and WHAT is not. You have to be really good to swap writing styles that quick. WHAT was just messing that day.
I can tell when most PLUSAs use their "other" names on here (ghetto comes to mind) because writing styles are not easy to mask.

Yeah I have no theories on the WHAT besides one that it was interesting that he was answering a thread from cornerbodega at 1:50 AM on a saturday morning like 3 minutes after corner posted it. I figured he must be getting an email alert or something and therefore employed by Mr. B.
Other than that, no theories.
I wanna hear six and JB's theory!

Yes, and other brands of chips as well...and since you all are wondering, I never experienced any anal leakage.

oh i totally forgot to mention it this morning. but you know the dog incident in my building? the chick who lets her dogs run wild in the hall? well yesterday my dog WAS attacked. i KNEW it would eventually happen (im psychic like that). luckily i was able to pull me dog back inside, unfortunately stepping on the paddy of my roommates dog (she's okay tho) and nearly slammed my finger in the door! her little dogs are FEARLESS, it was ridiculous! and all she said was "sorrrrrry rob" :-/
then i was out for a bit later and she crossed the street when she saw me walking toward her :-/

Rob,
YOU have GOT to write a stern letter about today's incident while also reminding her of the other instances where you had asked her to leash them.
You also have GOT to CC in the Building management.
Send them certified mail return receipt requested.
You can't be nice about this anymore. You really need to protect your dog.

kens,
You think it's a coincidence that both what and cornerbodega were posting at 1:50am on a Saturday morning on the same thread? There may be a better theory than the one you posted.
I am willing to entertain your doubt about what/BHO but I think my catch was pretty good. Lots of folks agreed.

slope, corner asked WHAT a question. It would just be psychotic if he's talking to himself on a thread at 1:50 AM on a saturday morning.

"The what went fishing. Where'd you catch that big fish, what?"
Sixyears,
I think I may know what you mean (no pun intended), and have done the same google search!
If so, that guy certainly seemed to fit on approx age, job background etc. Although he seemed to be have some background in another state which did not quite fit with stuff that The What said on here.
Sorry if that makes no sense and I sound like I am on crack.
Posted by: etson at June 23, 2009 3:45 PM
"You think it's a coincidence that both what and cornerbodega were posting at 1:50am on a Saturday morning on the same thread? "
When did this happen slopey?? Recently? And how did you find this out?
Posted by: cobblehiller at June 23, 2009 3:48 PM
Etson, excellent work! Definitely enough evidence to open an investigation and possibly indict, but not necessarily enough to convince a jury.
Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at June 23, 2009 3:49 PM
I hadn't thought it until presented with kens's datum. But it seem more likely that at 1:50 am on Saturday, it's one person, not two. Certainly more likely than what having a special pipeline to Mr. B. And how would corner have known that what was lurking at 1:50am? Not at all ready to call it, but I think my read of the datum is fairly sensible under the circumstances.
P.S. Why would psychosis necessarily rule out the theory?
Care to opine, biff?
Posted by: slopefarm at June 23, 2009 3:51 PM
Sixyears,
They certainly know each other if it is not him. But if it is him I can't understand why he would out himself like that.

Ha - I just went over to the Gold thread
hilarious
any takers that Brickoven is the What?
Posted by: gemini10 at June 23, 2009 3:56 PM
slope, I'm really not certain. I don't feel The What has any connection whatsoever with Mr. B. I'm not convinced The What is BHO either. I think the styles are too different and unless it is one mad genius behind the two personas, I just don't think one could go back and forth between posts at the same time like they do. Arkady is a professional writer and also disputes The What is BHO. As for The What being cornerbodega, I suppose it's possible based on the "evidence" (i.e., the coincidental timing noted above), but I don't know why The What would need to create another login when he has no problems going after people as The What. If it's to display support or have a sockpuppet, I didn't think corner and The What had much to do with each other.
In other words, I have no idea! I don't really care much either way as I'm mostly concerned with how I personally interact with him / them. I rarely have interaction with BHO or cornerbodega and I have civil interactions with The What.
I'm totally lost on etson and sixyears' theory also.
Posted by: Biff Champion at June 23, 2009 4:00 PM
cobble, I am not sure. Kens posted about it. I was justr reasoning from his data.
Posted by: slopefarm at June 23, 2009 4:00 PM

Posted by: etson at June 23, 2009 4:03 PM
I saw the posts when I was away for a week and was sitting at home catching up the missed reading and came up across a thread and I saw the convo there. I don't remember the thread though but it was sometime during the last week of May. We all know that no one is ever on Brownstoner on weekends, maybe by mere chance someone peeks but that's about it.
Posted by: Kensingtonian at June 23, 2009 4:03 PM
I think Sixyears will probably be best at deciphering writing styles since he grades student papers all the time. Can you see similarities in any PLUSAs and sockpuppets?
Posted by: Kensingtonian at June 23, 2009 4:06 PM
Good point Kens!
Posted by: cobblehiller at June 23, 2009 4:08 PM
I think the fact I never have received a compliment pretty much confirms I don't have any sockpuppets.
Posted by: Biff Champion at June 23, 2009 4:09 PM
No matter what I think of the What as a human being (so to speak), he is definitely smart enough to be What, corner and BHO. Anyone who has seen his rants interspersed with his - ah- medicated states- should realize he is quite capable of multiple personalities. Whether he is or not, I don't know- but I wouldn't underestimate him or his need to have his ego stroked.
Posted by: bxgrl at June 23, 2009 4:13 PM
Thanks kens, but my ability at deciphering is largely limited to picking up when students are obviously cutting and pasting from the web (not that anyone on here ever does that!). I have no theories on the real identity of ghettoazz. I do believe it's possible for the What & BHO to be the same person - lots of apparently sane, upstanding citizens have deep-seated anger in them and do things their closest friends would never imagine possible. Remember the BTK guy in Wichita? I'm sure there are other examples. If I wrote a blog about Joel Klein (as I've said before), I'd sound just like the What.
“If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?" - Alexander Solzhenitsyn

I have a new theory, Expert is BRG? If so, we miss youuuuu!!!!!
Posted by: Kensingtonian at June 23, 2009 4:32 PM
Kens, I thought Expert Textpert was BRG when we discussed this two weeks ago.
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at June 23, 2009 4:35 PM
Kens, is it the coryn jokes or lame-o recreational suggestions or both that leads you to that theory?
Posted by: Biff Champion at June 23, 2009 4:37 PM
Funny, Dave. I know a number of phrases of lawyer latin 101, but that's it. (Some lawyer phrases are actually in old french, not latin.)
But put the pressure on 6y, not me. He's sitting on (1) a theory of why what isn't posting (to which jb is privy) and (2) a theory of what's identity (which etson apparently has figured out, but isn't saying). This violates asshat etiquette.

I'm not convinced this current "The What" is the original "The What"
If you go back a couple of years, the writing styles are still much different.
I think the current "The What" is a character someone is playing. I don't believe for a moment that he is as incoherent and bipolar as everyone believes.
Posted by: dirty_hipster at June 23, 2009 4:38 PM
"Oh sweeet hay-sus Six!"
Don't worry, CH, this was a last gasp of intelligence before summer vacation sets in.
Kens - nothing wrong with paraphrasing (so long as you cite) and you actually read the text first. Of course kids don't realize that their teachers have Google too. It's really scary that lots of teachers don't care enough to actually check, and just let plagiarism go unpunished.
Slopefarm, I don't cough up my theories so quickly...I'm waiting for more PLUSAs to figure out on their own.
Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at June 23, 2009 4:39 PM
I'm not the same personality I was when I first started posting either, dh.
Posted by: daveinbedstuy at June 23, 2009 4:40 PM
Slopefarm, I'd love to provide everyone with the instant gratification we all desire (rewrite?) but explaining our entire theory would involve other violations of asshat etiquette.
Also, I think there's a definite possibility that DH is correct.
Etson and JB, what do you think?
Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at June 23, 2009 4:42 PM
DH - the current What (am talking the past 3 weeks) seems to be much like the OLD OLd What (circa - a year ago)
I think we all agree that the what who has been posting since fall/winter 2008 seems to be a much more tamer, coherent poster....
I think if you check a lot of the What's current posts, they really seem wacked out and he seems to be back to his usual name-calling etc
Posted by: gemini10 at June 23, 2009 4:43 PM
Slopefarm,
Sixyears and I have the same theory and some circumstantial evidence but neither of us is 100% sure.
If we put it on here it would point everyone to a real full name. Would be even more of a violation of asshat etiquette to throw out a real name online, and would be mortifying if it was the wrong guy after all.
Posted by: etson at June 23, 2009 4:44 PM
"I'm not the same personality I was when I first started posting either, dh."
True Dave - I can't put my finger on it. If you're bored one day go back a couple years and take a gander it's weird.
Posted by: dirty_hipster at June 23, 2009 4:44 PM
Biff, it's the re-write that she couldn't stay away from for long.
I know you had that theory before DIBS but I had my doubts. Now I am beginning to think otherwise.
I am with you on that one slopefarm. The least that etson can do is post the link to the article....

"I know you had that theory before DIBS but I had my doubts. Now I am beginning to think otherwise."
Kens, I honestly thought for a moment at the start that Expert was SnarkSlope, especially since Snark said he was going to move and contemplating new logins and we hadn't heard from him for a day or so. But he resurfaced and nobody, particularly ET, is as funny as Snark.

weirder and weirder- I told the Great EVLL that I thought the What was a fake persona, totally put on for entertainment purposes. He's just too schizoid, and he veers from one opinion to the next- usually only to disagree with something someone else has posted. Parts of his persona a definitely real- especially when you get him talking about area history or music. But for the most part, his carrying on and rants seem fake. this is a guy having fun at everyone's expense.(I can't wait to see what he calls me when he starts posting again. I should invest in flak vest.)

That was my initial thought as well.
Personally, I find the whole multiple logins and playing a character thing really annoying. That's why I don't engage with him.

Yeah, and that's all we know, What could have been there! randi said he was there. And BHO and others as well could have been there, too. Who is to say, even with registration if you have multiple email addresses [Full disclosure: I have 3 - 1 personal, 1 internet friends, and 1 professional] an individual could be even 6 or more logins!
It's endless, I drove myself nuts with Miss Chiff and misterbubble, no more for me, thanks!

Not enough spelling errors.

Posted by: the chicken at June 23, 2009 5:24 PM
"Personally, I find the whole multiple logins and playing a character thing really annoying."
It appears to me that people like "ghettoazz" use multiple logins to post comments they'd be afraid to post using their "established" names. Kind of pathetic. By the same token, I don't think The What uses alternate logins - it seems he has no trouble using his established identity to say whatever he feels.
Posted by: East New York at June 23, 2009 5:25 PM
OH DIBS! Stop that!!
Thanks you guys, it was disappointing. But not letting it slow me down! Onward and upward!

"Here Comes the Hammer"
"Work This"

If you happen to be of a certain age, it almost definitely means you're too expensive. DH is too young to know about this, but it's definitely a factor when you've reached my stage of the game (age 35+ with commensurate salary). In many ways, the job search just gets harder as time marches on. Sorry to hear about that, CH. Keep swinging for the fences. You'll connect sooner or later!

I have to give my hetero props to both of them. When I saw chicken, I KNEW you would be all over him like a garfield doll on the wet windshield of a '57 Chevy. He's good looking and has a great personality. As for Xing, he's definitely quieter but a dashing fellow in his own right. I was impressed. I would have asked if he had a sister if I was single.

"I don't believe for a moment that he is as incoherent and bipolar as everyone believes."

No, What most certainly is not incoherent or bipolar. Of that I am certain. Most likely well-educated, has had some pretty decent jobs, knows computers well - both mac and PC, is a Brooklyn native, public school educated for at least some of the time. He can have a sophisticated sense of humor and irony. I have a few more inklings about him.
And as you know, I like him, if not some of his behavior. But this is not news to anyone!
I have an inkling that he was nearby at at least one gathering, but nothing concrete. I don't think I've spoken to him, but I hope I have! I would love to meet him. I think we would get along.
Posted by: cobblehiller at June 23, 2009 7:09 PM
mopar:
Agreed. Anyone here believe they may have spoken to The What at the last gathering?
I don't think it was him. There were two people lurking around the gathering - the art teacher who took off early (was sitting with CG ups and friends for awhile) and one guy sitting over by the steps (Rob talked to him for a bit). I talked to the art teacher, who seemed pretty cool, but if he really is a teacher he doesn't have nearly enough time to be the what. He also didn't seem old enough.
Six and Jessi, is your theory that the What is someone you know of offline?
No...although others on here may know our suspect.
