Inside Third & Bond: Week 87

TAB-061109-site.jpg
The Hudson Companies bloggers drop a pop quiz on you today.

Construction continues apace at Third + Bond. The rainy conditions have kept us from doing a concrete pour and starting some façade work, but inside plumbers and carpenters still vie for boom box dominance. But why take our word for it – come see for yourself!

We are offering 2 of our avid readers personal tours of the site. If you haven’t spent a ton of time on a construction site, it’s a pretty interesting way to pass a half hour. Plus, you might just walk away with some yet-to-be-released insider knowledge.

The first two readers to respond via email to info@hudsoninc.com with the most correct answers, will win a personal tour.

1. Who is our architect?

2. In Irene Berzak’s interview, she noted that the Department of Buildings has created a new term for expeditors. What is it?

3. What’s the name of the exterior insulation we’re using?

4. Which came first the Third + Bond guest blog, Bird renovation guest blog or Green Roof guest blog?

5. Who is our most frequent commenter? (wild guess!)

6. What are two of the four types of piles we have used?

7. Third + Bond’s superstructure is: A) pre-fabricated panels made in New Jersey, B) entirely site built, C) modular boxes shipped by water.

8. Third + Bond’s construction loan is closest to: A) $15 million, B) $25 million, C) $45 million?

9. What is the area in which plumbing and HVAC are grouped together vertically inside a building wall called? A) Column, B) Chase, C) HVAC Chimney?

10. NYC construction workers represent many ethnicities. Name two found at Third + Bond.

Another attempt at covert Race/Class warfare. My question is do they run whenever one of the walls caves in?

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at June 11, 2009 11:49 AM

I think the What and I really do think alike. ROTFLMMFAO!!!!!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at June 11, 2009 11:50 AM

I think What and DIBS should win the tour - you don't want people who already like what you're doing to see it, you want people who's opinions you can change.

If no-one else posts any answers does that mean that they will win by default?

"I think What and DIBS should win the tour - you don't want people who already like what you're doing to see it, you want people who's opinions you can change."

Great I can make Dave part of the foundation...

The What (Just joking, NOT!)

Someday this war is gonna end...

Look, I know it was pretty presumptuous of the developers to think we are so wrapped up in the details of the project to think that we would want to take the quiz, let alone remember enough to know the answers, but jeez, can't you guys take it down a notch?

Posted by: slopefarm at June 11, 2009 12:03 PM

"can't you guys take it down a notch?"

slopefarm, you're talking to DIBS and The What...or did you forget? :-)

Posted by: Biff Champion at June 11, 2009 12:27 PM

if I'm paid $20 for the tour, sign me up.

Posted by: more4less at June 11, 2009 12:27 PM

M4L, this isn't an Aruban timeshare presentation. There is no complimentary casino money, buffet, snorkeling expedition or helicopter ride involved.

Posted by: Biff Champion at June 11, 2009 12:29 PM

I hope the "Gowanus Gunk" doesn't get "Inside third and Bond"

Posted by: joe_the_bummer at June 11, 2009 12:31 PM

Biff, $20 is super inexpensive mktg cost to "fish" someone to buy something much much more expensive than some timeshare.

Posted by: more4less at June 11, 2009 12:32 PM

You gotta get at least one of the questions right, m4l.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at June 11, 2009 12:33 PM

DIBS, developers love nothing better than a dumb buyer. the more clueless the better

Posted by: more4less at June 11, 2009 12:39 PM

"Biff, $20 is super inexpensive mktg cost to "fish" someone to buy something much much more expensive than some timeshare."

Good point.

NEWS FLASH: "Inside Third and Bond" comments reach double digits!!

Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at June 11, 2009 3:06 PM

That's harsh sixyears - have you shown JB those claws yet?

These guys are just trying to build decent apartments and sell them in the worst real estate market for 3 generations - they are down already, no need for the kick to the kidneys.

Posted by: the chicken at June 11, 2009 3:28 PM

LOL, chicken. Oh, I've seen them. Felt them, too.

Posted by: jessibaby at June 11, 2009 4:03 PM

oooerrr missus....

Posted by: the chicken at June 11, 2009 4:09 PM

I would like to thank the Third & Bond people for all their work in putting together a weekly piece for us. I think there are many more people who read and appreciate these posts than the small volume of comments would suggest.

Really guys, is the goal to completely alienate anyone who isn't a sarcastic jerk? These people are sharing useful and interesting information. I'm not commenting on the condos - it's outside of my search area - but I do think a little respect for these folks is in order.

Posted by: lechacal at June 11, 2009 4:32 PM

Second Lechacal, I enjoy the Third and Bond posts and get far less value from the sarcastic pricks who get their kicks sitting in front of their computers all day and one upping strangers.

Posted by: Colonel at June 11, 2009 10:06 PM

It seems that I was the only one that at least got one answer correct amidst the rest of the snark.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at June 12, 2009 8:20 AM

I believe they said the answers have to be e-mailed to info@hudsoninc.com.

What Lethcal said. Sure wish the comments on here were a little more constructive (though I've been guilty of the same sin myself)

Posted by: heck_of_a_job_brownie at June 12, 2009 9:06 AM

This on going series has been pretty informative and entertaining.

Yeah a lot of useless snark. Sarcasm is not auto funny.
