Closing Bell: NYC CityRacks Map

cityracks-map.jpg
Can't ever find a bike rack in your neighborhood? According to Gothamist, 97% of all the city's bike racks are mapped by the New York City Department of Transportation. Recently, the DOT has unveiled a new Google map interface showing the locations of 5,968 bike racks (out of approximately 6,100) that have been installed throughout the city. There are plenty of rack options in Brooklyn or you can just use a signpost like most do.

Not sure how accurate this map is - there's some that are on the map I know do not exist. Maybe I'm wrong though, I'll have to check it out tomorrow.

*Rob* couldn't post tonight as he was hit by a bike for at least the 11th time since moving to NYC.

I commute by bike daily and I still think this map is idiotic. The time spent creating the map could have been spent adding actual racks somewhere.
