Streetlevel: Another Bakery Coming to Fulton

The retail space at 886 Fulton between Waverly and Washington that housed K.V. Computers (and J&J Cafe before that) is getting a bakery as a new tenant; the news comes just six months after another bakery, Desserts by Michael Allen, opened at 1015 Fulton Street. The shop is being opened by Etwin Goodwin who runs an existing custom baking business called Essential Cakes. Her specialty is red velvet so Cake Man Raven better watch out! GMAP

Will this be an actual bread bakery or another sweets bakery? I assume sweets since "her specialty is red velvet cakes." Enough with the sweets already! I know it's more difficult, but the 'hood needs a real bakery!

I luv Michael Allen desserts. He is one baker who stays true to the art of baking and uses fresh pure ingredients not margarine or imitation vanilla essence or the other less expensive ingredients. Although I have enjoyed quite a few of his pastries and desserts, glad to report my waistline hasnt suffered much.I dont think another bakery was needed but at least it isnt a shuttered storefront along that ugly corridor.

kimmc - Michael Allen's does sell bread - baguettes and loaves as well (wheat, sourdough...).
