In a nice boost for the Dumbo commercial market, Etsy.com, the fast-growing online marketplace for hand-made goods, has signed a lease for 15,000 square feet of office space at the Two Trees-owned 55 Washington Street; the company was repped by Cushman & Wakefield and Caroline Pardo represented the landlord. For the past three years, the venture-backed company has worked out of a raw loft space at 325 Gold Street. "Etsy is thrilled to be joining the community of artists in the historic Dumbo neighborhood," said Etsy spokesman Charles Smith. GMAP

Will there be retail space or is this just going to be offices only?

What the community of artists in the historic Dumbo neighborhood?

Weren't the vast majority of them priced out of the neighborhood years ago?

If its like the Gold St location it will be offices and workshops. Retail is all done online. They do host workshops open to the public like the Sock Monkey Workshop.

I'm hearing now the new space will just be offices, and Third Ward will handle the workshops.

Hi Everyone, This is Maria Thomas, CEO at Etsy. you needn't guess. Here is the information you're looking for:

http://www.etsy.com/storque/etsy-news/newsflash-from-the-etsy-labs-3183/

At the start of this year, we moved our crafting classes to Third Ward's space because it's more suitable for making stuff and can accommodate more people. You can find Etsy @ Third ward here: http://www.3rdward.com/3rdwardclasses/category/craft-etsy-at-3rd-ward

We still use our current crafting space at 325 Gold Street for community crafting. We host a weekly craft night every Monday free and open to the public. We will continue to host community crafting nights in our new space at 55 Washington Street.

Come make stuff with us!

And, I forgot to mention, Etsy does not have retail space currently nor do we plan any at 55 Washington Street.
