Closing Bell: Elvish Tagging in Greenpoint?

New York Shitty needs a translator for some recent tagging that was discovered on storefronts in Greenpoint. Sent in by a NYS reader, "a person is tagging in what looks like elvish." The reader found the first set on Leonard and Norman and the second on Eckford and Nassau. Anyone know what the tagging says?

It's german. It says: The secret of the ruins. Refers both to the oldest alphabet of the Germanic tribes and to a book by the Austrian mystic Guido von List. According to Wiki, "List's book is seminal to later currents of Germanic mysticism and Nazi occultism. The Armanen runes were employed for magical purposes in by authors such as Friedrich Bernhard Marby and Siegfried Adolf Kummer, and after World War II in a reformed "pansophical" system by Karl Spiesberger."

perk23 is correct, except that it should be "runes" not "ruins."

If they were Runes from Middle Earth, they would be Dwarf Runes in Dwarfish.

I read this as "Elvis" on first take. Now that would'be been something...

It says, "Douchebag hipsters have way to much free time and get a f00kin job."
or something to that effect.

I don't think there's anything particularly funny about racist graffiti. It's great for them that anything in Greenpoint or the burg is immediately dismissed as being some sort of hipster douchebaggery.

Greenpoint humans want to know

it says "i am a miscreant scumbag with nothing better to do so i decided to deface someone's private property."

Spnder, you might win the prize. I've seen every possible topic on Brownstoner be somehow reduced to either 'racist' or 'classist' by torch-bearing, pitchfork waving commenters. Your claim that "The Secret Of The Runes" is somehow 'racist graffiti' has me scratching my head. I just can't figure that one out, unless you're reading something into the Nazi reference above. In which case you're way off target.
It possible- and I'm not defending graffiti as an artform, nor do I even really consider it defensible- but it IS possible that you're guilty of an even more egregious douchebaggery.
