Streetlevel: 216 Flatbush Restaurant Revealed

Last week we posted that, according to a press release from a broker, 216 Flatbush Avenue (the former location of the failed High Stakes Cheesesteaks) was slated to be a Mediterranean restaurant: According to this photo sent in by a reader this morning, it appears to have a seafood slant, wouldn't you say? (Thanks Justin!)

From the Park Slope message board:
"Their sign is up. It's called "Fish and Sip" I just spoke with the owner, a nice Israeli guy. He said they'll have fish, pasta, sandwiches, salads, panini and good coffee. And will hopefully be open on Sunday depending on inspections etc. Sounds good to me. Especially if the salads are the kind I've been dreaming of."

assuming the food is good, it'll be nice to have someplace casual but sit-down-able on flatbush. right now, the places i like on flatbush are not set up for sitting for a quick meal - they're either too cramped (bergen bagel, christies), or too much of a time commitment (frannie's, flatbush farm).

11217 says: "I just spoke with the owner, a nice Israeli guy."
Hahahahahahaha! Now if that's not a conundrum, I don't know what one is.

#1. I did not say that. If you knew how to read, you'd see that I said I was posting something which was said on the Park Slope message board.
#2. I'm all for freedom of speech, but it boggles my mind why Mr. B allows these racist comments on his website time after time after time from PropJoe.
It's really disgusting.

PropJoe, conundrum is entirely the wrong word to be used in your anti-semetic post. I believe if you had a brain, you would have known to use the word "oxymoron" or the phrase "contradiction in terms", as in "PropJoe's brilliant post".

Worst. Name. Ever.

Worse than Yogo Monster?

I once drove by a hair salon on Staten Island called "Hair-ific."
Presumably they thought it sounds like "terrific" and forgot that "horrific" is also a word.

You got me there.
There is also my all time favorite bad restaurant name in Park Slope: Pita Pan.

How about Hung Phat Seafood & Meat on Grand Street in Little Italy?

The former Highstakes Cheesestakes who's sign read more like 'High Cheese Stake Steaks' already won worst name ever.
Good luck to the Fish and Sip (should have been 'Fish and Sips') establishment. I'll try it after it gets going after a few weeks.

Good point.

> "Hung Phat Seafood & Meat"
Years ago I saw a truck in Boston's Chinatown that was emblazoned "Lo Hung Meats."
Seriously.

Hey, stop with the "ugly name calling"... I know some don't like the name, but others do love it. We played with many different names, and decided with YOGO MONSTER. Yogo is "short" for yogurt, and monster was just a fun name that we thought would work for frozen yogurt. Hope at least some of you guys had a chance to try out our product.
