Great news!

It's funny...ever since bstoner did the highlight on how abysmal Flatbush Avenue is a few weeks ago, I've seen or heard about a half dozen new things opening up on the stretch...

Also around the corner from here...the storefront next to the new Bergen Comics place...right next to Pintchik hardware was just boarded up with signs out front that say a new restaurant is coming soon...

Wow - you guys remember how that used to be "High Stakes Cheese Steaks"? The basketball-themed cheesesteak place that also had "shoot hoops, not guns" on its canopy? When it opened (2004?), it was going to be the place everybody got cheesesteaks after a Nets game. Yeah. Now, not so much.

I wonder if it's going to be another Fatoosh.

If so, I'm game.

Why would someone sign only a 5 year lease unless maybe there are very, very favorable renewal terms???

Dave,

I'd guess they were failing and couldn't hang in there. I don't think Pintchik would kick out his tenant knowing that he has signs up on 8 other properties in the area. Just my opinion.

Chuck -
High Steak Cheese Stakes opened in early 2006 and only lasted 18 months.

I really miss Silver Spoon, but this sounds good.

... and before it was High Stakes Cheese Steaks, it was the Silver Spoon Diner... for over 20 years. Let's hope the new place has a bit of luck.

Is Fatoosh gone?

Posted by: Heather at April 13, 2009 7:37 PM

Nah...Fatoosh is still down on 5th Avenue near 9th Street...

I think there's another in BH also...
