New Art Center Brewing on Bergen

A frenchman and a financial-analyst-turned-gallerist are in the process of transforming a former Invisible Dog factory at 51 Bergen Street in Cobble Hill into an arts center with design studios, a community garden and, more importantly, low rents. The project is a collaboration between Muriel Guepin, who opened the Shop Art Gallery on the ground floor of the building last December, and Lucian Zayan, who recently moved to Brooklyn from his hometown of Paris. The space officially opens on May 9; in the meantime, reports The New York Times, they've got a makeshift thrift store up and running on Saturdays and Sundays. GMAP

I live right next door. These building have been unoccupied and unloved for quite sometime. I am very pleased someone is finally moving in, and their inexpensive art offerings are actually quite nice! Welcome to the nabe, Shop Art!

That property had been on market for sale for long time.
Now that market has died I guess they decided to get some rent to pay the taxes.

Buildings NFS, hadn't been. This is a housing development site that due to market is now for lease as loft space. inquire at chris@iccws.com

Muriel and Lucien doing something creative and cool in the space in conjunction with owner.

Invisible Dog was that novely item where you got a lease and collar but no dog! was made in building....

"Cobble Hill is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, USA. Bordered by Atlantic Avenue on the north, Hicks Street to the west, Smith Street on the east and Degraw Street to the south".. That strip of Bergen haspretty much always been considered Cobble Hill
