Hotel Le Bushwick On Tap

22-Sumner-Place-0409.jpg
Despite its drab appearances, Williamsburg's Hotel Le Jolie must be doing well. Or, well enough, at least, to give its developers the confidence to proceed with another similar project in nearby Bushwick. According to a tipster, and confirmed by Department of Buildings filings, the 21,000-square-foot lot at 22 Sumner Avenue is slated to a seven story, 69-room hotel. According to one of the contractors involved, ground should be broken within the next week or two. Good place for a hotel? GMAP P*Shark DOB

i dont want to be the first one to post but i dont think im off topic on this one... but WHO would rent a hotel room here? it would only be out of state parents who's kids (most likely paying for) live in bushwick coming in for a visit to see their "space". only to probably be completely horrified! like that crazy lady in that other thread who was worried about her daughter living across from the bushwick projects. tho actually now that i think about it, i guess it could be cool for bands who play in the area, or exhibiting artists, and there's tons of them, who might not have a place to crash. so maybe it's not such a bad idea. what are hotel prices in this area like anyway?

It is right next to a hospital, which would likely give the hotel a lot of business.

Hard to imagine a tourist saying "lets book in that new place in Bushwick, its so convenient and well located"

is the laughable use of 'le' supposed to give you visions of parisian interiors to distract you from the wretchedness surrounding the hotel?

it's directly next to an abandoned building and down the block from Bushwick PJs (I think). Plus it's a heavily populated area (VERY crowded)...I can't see it as a spot for a hotel...unless it's one of those hourly joints.

A lot depends of what brand of hotel we're talking about. The right kind of place can succeed here.

No no no, this is not a hotel in "Bushwick" even if technically this is Bushwick. Is it? This is the area between Williamsburg and Bed Stuy that has a ton of projects, the hospital, and some Hasadim. So yes I would have to agree, it would be suitable for the hospital, as an hourly spot, or for visiting Hasids.

Anyone wanting to open a hotel in "Bushwick" would have to locate it closer to the lofts.

Although there is a lovely Motel 6-type deal on Wyckoff down by the cemeteries that looks great for truck drivers, crack addicts, and hourly customers. (No offense to truck drivers.) Maybe Ian Schrager better look into that.

Oh! And believe it or not there's a hostel in Bushwick near the lofts that is apparently *very* popular with Europeans.

It'll be very convienient for the tourists - get shot, walk across the street to the hospital. Or maybe even better hand out with the loonies at the abondoned building next door (or the loonie bin, also across the street). Welcome to NY!

James, maybe you could create a tour for the hotel guests?
