Cherry Blossoms On a Roll

According to the latest Twitter post from @bklynbotanic, the recent heat wave has brought out the cherry blossoms slightly ahead of schedule. If you're fortunate enough to have some time off today, you might want to take advantage of Free Tuesdays at BBG.

Yes, full bloom in Philly over the weekend. The few in Fulton Park were in full bloom this morning. Get out to see them before the rain comes.

Is the festival set up yet for this weekend? The fest is fun, but it detracts from the beauty of seeing the volume of the trees in bloom I think.
I'm also amazed at how quickly the trees turned. I checked the status map 2 days ago and it was almost all still pre bloom.

I was there saturday and they weren't even open yet. Crazy!

And also truck over to Green-Wood Cemetery (25th St. and 5th Ave.) to see their cherries (many of which are decades older than BBG) and dogwoods in bloom. I was in there late yesterday and it was amazing.
And it's FREE every day 7:00am-6:00 PM. 7:00 PM after Memorial Day.
I guess there's an upside to global warming.
(and yes, I'm a big fan of the cemetery, if you hadn't noticed)

I was there this morning and it is spectacular. They are just at that point where not a petal has yet dropped onto the ground.

Just stand at the corner of 6th Ave and 3rd Street. A great cherry in bloom on every corner, and some good looking dogwoods, too.
