Brooklyn Bicycles Ready for Launch

brooklyn-bicycles-0409.jpg
A reader just sent in this photo of the new Brooklyn Bicycles shop that is taking over the former Curves space at 375 9th Street at 6th Avenue. The signage is new since we posted about it a couple of weeks ago and there's an announcement taped to the door proclaiming the opening date of May 1. Ride on!

Sweet! I cleaned the dust off the bike and started riding again on Sunday. Now I am in the market for a set of hookworms.

The south end of Court/Smith needs a "good" bike shop. I'm not exactly sure what I mean by "good". Mainly just want a shop that isn't run by "jerks" who can't be "bothered".

Yes, that' what "good" means in bike shop-speak. Not easy to come by.

Will be happy - was beginning to think Dixon's was a bit of a rip off.

Another new bike shop coming to Bergen Street? On the Pintchik block. I saw a sign yesterday.

toga runs a good set of shops with usually decent knowledgeable guys. R&A sucks big time. dixons is weak. will have to check this one out. online sites will likely still be my main source for stuff though.

There's a bike shop on Court near Nelson or Livingston. Only stopped in once, is this the one you're referring to that blows? A good local shop would be nice.

What about an OTB?

These guys are open now and they are genuinely nice. Most of the bikes on the rack are Bianchis but their offering has expanded in the few times I've gone in.
I brought in a bike needing a brake cable and they took care of it immediately. I've been a longtime customer of OntheGo on 7th Ave but since they are closer to where I live, I'll probably start going here.
