Streetlevel: Makeover at Former Curves Space

The store front at 375 9th Street at 6th Avenue in Park Slope is getting some kind of makeover. The former Curves location which has been vacant for more than a year now has newspaper up in the window. Anyone know what lies in store? Update: As a commenter points out, the Brooklyn Paper reported last month that this will be a bike shop. GMAP

I noticed this yesterday myself... I bet it's a meth lab. That's the only reason to paper over the windows I can think of... definitely a meth lab.

11217, that's great... but not as interesting as my guess.

I agree...your guess was much more interesting.
But this isn't Portland...if it were, it really would have been a meth lab.
;-)

ok cool
No joke - Curves has moved into a TINY(I mean TINY - like the size of one's bathroom) storefront on 6th avenue between 14th and 15th streets right next to Athena.
I walk by daily and see 1 person at a time training
not sure how that could possiby work unless there is more space in the back that I can't see

The "bikes under $2500" comment is nice... but will they have bikes that I can afford, or is this going to be just a high-end bike shop? I'm in the market for a new bike -- but not $2,000. Definitely not.

11217 - Zing!
PS: Get outta my brain or start paying rent.

I've been thinking of getting a bike too. Guess it's been a while...I thought they were like 200 bucks.
I guess craigslist is more my speed. No pun intended.

Fantastic! Now how about filling that space on 8th Street & 7th Avenue?

What's at 8th Street and 7th, Rookie?
Posted by: 11217 at April 2, 2009 2:20 PM
I think Rookie's referring to the old laundromat? Funny, I was thinking the same thing myself yesterday.

another empty space. Next to the video store. Used to be a laundromat. That and the Curves space are (were, I guess) two of my neighborhood pet peeves.

Xander Crews clearly needs new material.

interesting...they have at least removed the launder center sign, so there's some progress. oh, and in related news, it looks as if the la bagel space is getting really close.

Whatever this turns out to be, I have every faith that posters on brownstoner will deride it and find a reason to bitch and complain.

anyone else find it funny that a bike shop is replacing Curves?
anyone?

Thank you, Big Jugs, for bitching and complaining about the hypothetical future occurence of bitching and complaining.
