Streetlevel: Something Finally Happening 320 Court?

320-Court-Street-0309.jpg
This storefront at 320 Court Street has been sitting in an abandoned state for at least the last couple of years but maybe there's hope for it now: A DOB permit was just issued for the repair of the facade. Anyone know anything about? Might there be a tenant some time soon? GMAP

street rumor says the guys that own Hanleys down the street on Court have this spot.

Its not like they are looking for a tenant. The place is filled with furniture and new construction and it looks to be a restaurant.

I walked right by there an hour or so ago - nothing doing but permits posted.
I heard that it was going to be a restaurant.

what do permits say? what kind of permits? make reference to plumbing?

the frankies/sixpoint cafe rumored in the BF&D round up???that would be nice.

Posted by: laik at March 4, 2009 2:45 PM

I love Frankies and I love Six Point. But those 2 establishments as "brands" do seem like an odd coupling.

bring it. that mid stretch of court street has some very stale restaurant offerings! (minus osaka)

If it is run by OJ Hanley's, let's hope that the food isn't as crappy.

If it is run by PJ Hanley's, let's hope that the food isn't as crappy.

Posted by: Yllebdael at March 4, 2009 3:03 PM

Yes, I remeber PJ Handley's got a thrashing here once and I was looking for a place to eat and decided against them because of that. Isn't that the same place that was handing out attitude about a seat at the bar????

they should open an OTB there.

Posted by: Danny Noonan at March 4, 2009 3:15 PM

It does look to be the Hanley's/Pizza guy who owns this building. After OTB closed it was supposed to be turned into yet another French restaurant. They was some work done and then it got boarded up and has been that way for quite a while.

Sam's for pizza, Fragole, Osaka, Quercy, Olive Tree are all decent choices. And the coffee shop, as far as coffee shops go (way cheaper than most in Manhattan, btw.)

Posted by: Carol Gardens at March 4, 2009 3:21 PM

There was also talk of an oyster bar. That would be a DAMN big oyster bar.

Posted by: Prodigal_Son at March 4, 2009 3:28 PM

Whatever it is should be an upgrade from the old OTB parlor.

Posted by: Boerum Hill at March 4, 2009 4:13 PM

That neighborhood lacks a quality OTB

Posted by: Xander Crews at March 4, 2009 4:55 PM

Isn't "quality OTB" an oxymoron?

Posted by: Biff Champion at March 4, 2009 5:01 PM

loved that old OTB, the 3x a year i went there (for the triple crown races and my $10 bet).

the old angry pipe smoking white haired crowd hanging out there HATED me for having the nerve to try to go inside and try to place a bet. i looked fwd to it every year. bring it back!
