Real Estate Broker Setting Up Shop on 7th Avenue

372-7th-Avenue-Brooklyn-0309.jpg
According to this photo sent in by IMBY, Park Slope is getting a new real estate office. Brownstone Real Estate is in the process of setting up shop at 372 7th Avenue. It shouldn't be too radical a change for the nabe—it's the former office of Innovation Real Estate. GMAP

I hope Coldwell Banker Innovation is out of business. I signed a contract on a PS house in 2005, after paying for full engineer inspection, lead paint testing, mortgage application, etc. They wound up selling the house to a higher bidder, without giving us an opportunity to match that bid. This again, after signing a contract that they gave to us.

A heartbreaking experience for us. Completely unethical.

Isn't that also completely illegal, since they signed the contract? Couldn't you have sued?

This is a gutsy move for broker in this market. Good luck Brownstone

They had not signed the contract, the plan was we were to sign and they'd bring it to the seller for signature. Then they started stalling...

Probably not illegal, but definitely unethical. Haddasah was the manager's name at Coldwell Banker, a complete snake.

The denizens of Park Slope must be so thrilled.

I heard that Brownstone bought Innovation.

I have never seen worse marketing done by a RE group than was done by Innovation. I'm not sure how they sold anything.

Awesome. Just what Park Slope needs.

I'm not being snarky here eyepenn...but in your opinion...what exactly DOES Park Slope need with regard to retail that it doesn't currently have on 5th, 7th or Flatbush...?

Hadassa (spelling?) is/was the owner, and I believe this is still the case, unless she's a lawyer it's not legal for a broker to prepare a contract of sale...

Park Slope needs an OTB

Posted by: Xander Crews at March 30, 2009 3:23 PM

Park Slope HAS an OTB on 5th Avenue and 11th Street.

Been there forever and a day.

Posted by: 11217 at March 30, 2009 3:26 PM

Xander Crews needs new material.

Posted by: SnarkSlope at March 30, 2009 3:42 PM

yah think?

If the contract wasn't signed by the owner, it is not illegal to accept another offer. You can't blame the broker as its up to the owner to execute the contracts - if someone comes in last minute and offers extra $$$, the broker, assuming they're representing the seller, is obligated to submit it, they can get sued if they don't but you should be upset they didn't give you a chance to counter.

good luck to these folks. It takes alot of gusto, let's see if they can pull it off. This has to be about the third or fouth broker in this spot. Lot's of luck.
