So did I miss anything interesting since last Thursday?

Posted by: Biff Champion at March 31, 2009 9:18 AM

Nothing that will result in anything different. You never told us where you were.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 9:20 AM

NOPE...you didn't miss anything.
Nothing interesting at all!!!
:-)

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 9:21 AM

yes biff, you completely missed Dramarama Friday. (which was much crazier than that's so hideous friday). someone else will have to give you the run-down.

Welcome back Biff!

The comments in the commenting on comments thread should keep you busy for a day or two. It's a humdinger!

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 9:28 AM

DIBS, I was at home hosting relatives from out of town.

Cobblehiller, thank you! I love humdingers. But I find it impossible to believe there could ever be any drama around here.

Posted by: Biff Champion at March 31, 2009 9:35 AM

Biff, you missed class for a couple of days. As a make up assignment, I suggest you read:

After all the reading, we want a 5 page essay posted here in one hour.

Oh and please, please please read all the posts regarding real estate.

"But I find it impossible to believe there could ever be any drama around here."

Clearly, you have been away toooo long Biff! ; )

I am going off the grid myself tomorrow for a bunch of days — I'm anxious in advance of what I might miss!

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 9:40 AM

Ok, thanks BRG. It shouldn't be a problem setting aside four hours or so today to go through that after returning from five days away from the Death Star. I'll report back on my thoughts by 6pm.

Posted by: Biff Champion at March 31, 2009 9:42 AM

I can sum it up for you Biff:

There are a lot of lurkers out there who are uncomfortable or fearful of posting. This is NYC, paranoia and neurosis run rampant.

Secondly, many of them don't like the direction that the OT takes most days yet they continue to read it apparently. Instead of just not reading it, they want it banished to some never never land of tabs. Apparently, its like porn, they can't keep their eyes off of it.

Thirdly, some people don't feel comfortable with certain "cliquish" groups. Frankly, I didn't know many of the lurkers were still in high school.

The net result was that yesterday it brought some lurker out as a spammer and made an abvsolute mess of the place yesterday morning. There was Snappv... instead of Snappy... and david... instead of dave..., etc, etc, etc.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 9:43 AM

BRG- ROTFLMFAO!!!

Biff, welcome back!

On a serious note:

Remember we were talking about nuts and some us sang the praises of Pistachios?

There's been a huge Pistachio recall (salmonella) so toss anything you have that contains pistachios!

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/31/business/31nuts.html?hp

I was one of the people who got Salmonella during that tomato recall last year so I can attest that this is NOT something you want to have to go through!

Posted by: TownhouseLady at March 31, 2009 9:44 AM

I can sum it up for you Biff:

There are assheads that read this site.
There are asshats that post on this site.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 9:48 AM

Pistachio recall? That's nut!

Posted by: the chicken at March 31, 2009 9:49 AM

BRG, I know Assheads and you're no asshead.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 9:51 AM

chicken...you'd better STFU. You know where salmonella typically originates don't you??? :)

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 9:52 AM

NOOOOOOO, not pistachios!!!!

I don't have any products with pistachios, but I do have loose turkish pistachios (I bought by the pound) that I munch on. Should I toss them?

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 9:52 AM

I think if you've been eating a batch already its safe to say they don't carry salmonella. Unless of course, the chicken has been at them.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 9:53 AM

"There are assheads that read this site.

No! I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you! Ban them, BAN THEM ALL!

Posted by: PitbullNYC at March 31, 2009 10:01 AM

I'm sorry to put you all through that trouble, although I did appreciate the synopsis and links.

My first post was completely tongue in cheek (not that again!) and I did see the commenting thread in question as well as some of the login imposter thread shenanigans.

I can definitely see both sides. I understand DIBS shaking it off and thinking Mr.B was simply trying to find ways to improve the site and involve more people. However, I also understand the feelings of benson, THL, cobblehiller et.al. who were somewhat insulted by the tone and words of Mr.B.

I do think we get somewhat of a mixed message by Mr. B seemingly heralding the fact we had over 600 posts in the OT one day and then saying this isn't where he wants things to be. At the end of the day, the only thing that I thought was truly unfair is blaming the "usual suspects" for being cliquish, intimidating and unwelcoming to newbies.

I really only think that happens when individuals (most obviously randolph as of late) come in here intentionally trying to troll. But it seems to me we are very welcoming to all other newbies who come in and are not confrontational with their first post. I'm thinking of individuals who are relatively new like CWB, the chicken, dirty hipster, CG Ups, and many, many others who seem to have no issues posting here or on other threads. From the very start we all said hello and have been very cordial and engaging, in my opinion. For Mr. B to site a beatdown of randolph as our typical behaviour when someone new logs on was really ridiculous and unrepresentative.

I also think the other threads have been much more on topic and we've been far less disruptive since the Open Thread has emerged. I don't mind if it's moved somewhere else so it is not on the main page...that wouldn't bother me.

Posted by: Biff Champion at March 31, 2009 10:03 AM

I love nuts. I eat them everyday, cashews being my favorite. Nuts are the best snack food eveeeeer.

Now if they do a recall on olives, I would starve.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 10:06 AM

Rob- You'd know it if you had it!

I was the picture of health all day. Came home from work felt FINE sat down for like 10 minutes on the sofa taking off shoes looking through mail and then stood up. The walk between the sofa and the staircase I realized I felt funny. By the time I got to the top of the stairs I thought I'm going to pass out. Next thing I know I wake up in the hallway, on my back, staring up at the skylight. My cat is HOWLING in my ear and licking my face (just like Lassie would have done!).

I literally crawled on my hands and knees into the bathroom. (I will refrain from mentioning the "dual horrors" that followed and continued for the next 4 days) I also passed out cold several more times over those 4 days. Couldn't even hold down water.

Day five, woke up and besides being quite weak I was back to normal. Strangest thing ever.

BRG- I can't tell you what to do but I know I wouldn't be eating them.

Posted by: TownhouseLady at March 31, 2009 10:13 AM

Oh Biff, there you go again...making sense!
Now tell that to the lurkers that almost lynched the 'usual suspects' on friday.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 10:16 AM

Kalamata olives are the best.

Hey Biff, while you are reporting back to us on the comments in the commenting on comments thread—would you please rank the comments on a scale of: "Most pleasing' to 'Take me now Lord, I can't read another moment of this crap'. Do not ignore a single post.

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 10:16 AM

OK...lets try to stay true to the OT.

I'm taking the Chinese bf out tonight for his birthday and I'm thinking sushi.

What's your favorite sushi??? If you don't eat raw fish then what's your favorite cooked Japanese dish?

I can never decide but oftentimes a great piece of Hamachi is better than Maguro. But nothing beats Toro. Anyone like natto???

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 10:16 AM

Dave-

I like Nabe dishes (hot pot) like Shabu-Shabu (meat fondue)and Oden. Also the various noodle dishes soba, udon, ramen, somen. Or just the grilled meats Yakitori.

Posted by: TownhouseLady at March 31, 2009 10:25 AM

Hiya Biff you missed all the fun! I need a re-write on "Cobblehiller, thank you! I love humdingers." We are PG now no Humdingers.

Tako wasabi (octopus marinated in wasabi) - but has to be the raw baby octopus, not the old rubbery kind.

Natto? It's like the bastard child of edamame and foot fungus. Next you'll be telling us you like casu marzu.

Posted by: the chicken at March 31, 2009 10:28 AM

cobblehiller, I wish I had that kind of time, but then I wouldn't be able to post 100 times here today.

Other random thoughts:

- I'm against a limit on number of comments per day, for obvious reasons.
- I don't think we need a moderator unless attacks get personal.
- I don't have much time for lurkers who only spoke up in the commenting thread yet never post on topic in the other threads. If they are really worried about getting a beatdown or us hijacking the other threads, I just don't see the former ever happening other than in rare/deserved cases and the latter has all but stopped with the OT.
- One login per IP address should be allowed (sorry to all the Misses out there).
- I prefer mandatory logins to guest posting.
- I was thrilled to see the What, DIBS, benson and THL all united on the same issue!

Hello "usual suspects" and everyone else. Newbie here. Have been lurking for a while and decided to finally create an account.

You guys rock. You're a big part of why this site is such a success. The Friday thing was ridiculous. I enjoy this site and definitely enjoy the OT when I have the time to read through all of it and it's a good way to unwind.

Hoping to come and meet all of you at the next Brownstoner drunkfest.

chicken...i've heard of casu marzu but never had it. I'm planning to go to sardinia next year and will find it.

However, I love the fried insects you get on the street in bangkok and MY NEW FAVORITE BEER SNACK is gusanos de maguay in Mexico...fried yucca worms...they are so good...just crunchy and salty...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. better than friggin chicken fingers at some Irish bar, Christ.

Don't get me started on chicken feet and spitting the bones out at the table. Aiyyyaaahhhh, mo yee tai.

I find it vile, but I had an ex who loved that stuff. Every time he would order it in a restaurant, the waiter would ask, "Are you sure you want natto?"

mmmmmmm....sushi

I love sashimi more so than sushi; too much rice for me. I also love rolls.
I hate hate those westernized rolls that places have made up ie, boston roll, philly roll, etc. I like straight up basic fish.

Unagi and Spicy Tuna being my faves.
I also love Tuna, Sweet shrimp, yellowtail, Salmon, mackerel (sp?).

Not a big fan of Toro. Hubby looooves it.
I also don't like anything with Roe on it. I hate that popping feeling in my mouth.

Where are you going for sushi?

My favorite place is in the village, Tomoe. A little non descript place on Thompson St. The wait at times can be unbearable, but my god, it is the best sushi!! The fish melts in your mouth.

Best sushi anywhere near Brooklyn Heights is Iron Chef House on Clark. I prefer it to Tomoe, actually.

I'm not sure why, but I kind of feel bad for LuAnn getting tossed by the Count. Maybe because she is soooo absurdly identified with being 'Countess', it's going to be tough for her.

DIBS...I have no idea about sushi in Brooklyn. After discovering Tomoe years ago, we only go there. I REFUSE to eat sushi anywhere else unless it's highly highly recommended.

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 11:15 AM

"Really...are you highly highly recommending it. If so I will try it."

BRG, I really like it, but be warned, my taste in sushi seems to differ from other sushi afficianados. For instance, I am underwhelmed by Nobu (probably mostly the result of all of the hype I heard prior to going there). Don't get me wrong; Tomoe is excellent, no question. Perhaps the freshest sushi / sashimi I've had in the city, and I've had a lot. But I prefer a couple of other more obscure places.

Are you ever in Brooklyn Heights? If you happen to be there anyway, then give it a try.

Posted by: Biff Champion at March 31, 2009 11:16 AM

Biff, I've never been to Nobu. I'm not sure I'd like it. I'm not into designer sushi. I like my sushi straight up almost with the hook still in it's mouth. I don't like sushi dressed up with lots of sauces and fancy sprigs sticking out of every corner. Give me the slab of fish with some soy sauce and wasabi and I’m more than happy.

Tomoe for me is the best and freshest and frankly don't go anywhere else. I'm scared I'll be disappointed.
What are the other obscure sushi places you'd recommend? I will admit Tomoe at times has a long wait.

I’m in Brooklyn Heights once a week, buying my weekly supply of olives and such at Sahadi. I will def. give it a try based on your recommendation.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 11:46 AM

Okay, I think we've turned people off by talking about sushi.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 12:08 PM

I'm suprised sushi is still as popular as it is. My theory is that people feel that is is "pure" and thus non-fattening, or something. I don't like raw seafood, including raw oysters. I have known too many people who have gotten sick. So I will stick with my blackened tuna steak, my Cajun monkfish, Spanish calamares, French ecargots, even fish and chips. All tasty and cooked.

dittoburg is on strike due to the Comments on comments thread. Anyone else not been around because of this? And shouldn't we encourage ditto to come on back?

Posted by: wasder at March 31, 2009 12:21 PM

I have been thinking about the “let’s talk about commenting thread”. I didn’t like the rancorous tone that it took. Like anyone else, I have my own preferences when it comes to hot-button issues like guest commenting, ignore functions, the OT and so on, but frankly all of these preferences are far outweighed by the simple desire that people not go at each other. This entire enterprise is diminished when people take up hateful, dismissive attitudes toward those with differing opinions.

Mr. B, you built this site and have nurtured it along in exemplary fashion. You have a more comprehensive view of the enterprise than any of us. So, I'd be comfortable if you simply called the shots without soliciting the kind of feedback you received last week. Or, alternatively, seek feedback but in some more casual way (emailing random groups of posters? surveys?). I don't think anyone benefits from threads like the "let's talk about commenting" thread, though.

Those are just my feelings on the matter. If there are better ways to assess the situation, I'm sure someone will come along to point 'em out!

Posted by: White and Proud in Crown Heights at March 31, 2009 12:22 PM

"I don't think anyone benefits from threads like the "let's talk about commenting" thread, though."

It was a hurtful experience for some. It was very confusing to have Mr. B, who had recently attended a poster function, turn around and say something that seemed to invite invective towards regulars.

The only personality I really wonder about here is Mr. B; there will be an ontological debate raging in a thread about the soul of Brownstoner, and then I'll refresh the page and see "Checking in at the Satori" or something. If I were him I'd crack a bottle of liquor each night and sit up reading what everyone had to say.

But like real artists, he couldn't care less. Andrew Wyeth said if he had to paint "Christina's World" again, he'd probably take out Christina from it. This site is expanding and moving into a larger place conceptually; we should too.

Posted by: infinitejester at March 31, 2009 12:45 PM

Yep, cobblehiller, the second song was indeed "This Land is Your Land"...the first one is definitely more of a challenge.

Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at March 31, 2009 12:49 PM

"dittoburg is on strike due to the Comments on comments thread. Anyone else not been around because of this?"

Not striking, but commenting less frequently, certainly.

"People that shall have good futures waiting for jobs, and people that are glorious waiting on the line for a piece of bread. Walking on the highway, on top of people was the future and under was valley.

Can you identify which two popular American songs this student was writing about?"

I want to say it's the Woody Guthrie song "This Land Was Made for You and Me" but that would mean that I actualy UNDERSTOOD what you student was trying to convey in the terrible, TERRIBLE example of "writing" you've shared, six years. PLEASE tell me I'm wrong.

Posted by: East New York at March 31, 2009 12:51 PM

"People that shall have good futures waiting for jobs, and people that are glorious waiting on the line for a piece of bread."

OK, I see where this is going. Is the first song, "Brother Can You Spare a Dime?" I guess you're teaching the Depression, huh six years? Quite appropriate. Still, you've got some real work on your hands with the author of those sentences. OK, no more comments.

Posted by: East New York at March 31, 2009 1:03 PM

I was taking a break from commenting too as that thread was getting out of hand last week - the stuffed cat in the COTD brought me back in it was tooo funny not to post something about it

Six years and counting - please tell us what song that is....!!

What a lovely post, Kensingtonian. Welcome!

Posted by: mopar at March 31, 2009 1:16 PM

OMG Mopar, after reading your 1:16 I had to scroll up and see the post by Kensingtonian. I completely missed it. So sorry, not sure anyone else saw it otherwise the welcome committee should have been more welcoming. It’s no wonder the ‘usual suspects’ were called out for being unwelcoming to newbies. We’re a bunch of stumps.

Anyway, welcome Kensingtonian.

It's totally OK. I posted it but I don't think my comment showed up until 20 minutes later. By then, it was followed by 30 posts. I don't mind. Just wanted to do a small introduction so I don't get the "WTF is that anyways?" if I post anything in the future threads.

As will the HOTD.

I'm off to Rome for spring break with 11-yr old. Anyone have an B&B or cheap ($100-120) hotels? Will be a hectic trip, I used milage so had to deal with the blackout dates and it's only 6 days. We're excited.

Come on in! We don't actually bite, all though—apparently, some of us do bark! ; )

Yes, please come to our next gathering. I think it's in May, Biff will be posting about it.

gemini, SHHH! We don't do the special hazing rituals until they've been here for at least 2 days! Don't you remember?!

Will everyone please stop with the beat down on Kensingtonian?? This is why everyone hates us. :-)

Kensingtonian, I also missed your post...must have been delayed, which seems to sometimes happen to long time listeners, first time posters.

cobblehiller, I think I threw out May 14 as the date. Does that work or is it too soon?

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 1:54 PM

Hey there Kensingtonian (can we call you Ken?) thanks for the nice words and the introduction. We're a pretty amicable bunch. Hope we see and here more from you.

Posted by: TownhouseLady at March 31, 2009 1:56 PM

Welcome Kensingtonian. We really are a fun bunch here.

6years, I'm horrified. BTW, what age/grade are your kids?

Sushi - I really like Funayama in the Village, on Greenwich, near 6th Ave. Not fancy, but large portions of good, fresh fish. One of my friends who is the fussiest gourmand I know, loves this place, and everyone else I've ever taken there does too.

"I do all of the "Asshat Clearing" around here!"

LOL!!

FYI, to those paying attention to yesterdays' skittle discussion: The new skittles are actually called "Crazy Cores" not "Crazy Colors" and Rob was correct, they change colors in the centers. [I took a closer look in a store just now.]

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 2:06 PM

THL, Ken is fine.

DIBS, since when do you let newbies' constitute what you guys talk about in OT? I am tempted but I'll pass.

I don't get offended from being called things/names on a blog. In person, that's a different story.

In terms of team Bear and Bull, not sure yet. I would love nothing more but to be on team Bull since I did buy a co-op about a year and a half ago and would love to see it grow in value BUT today's media frenzy makes me lean more towards Bear. DIBS I am in the finance field as well (eventhough I don't deal with stocks/bonds/trading at all - I am in corporate finance) and majority of what both you and Financy Guy say makes a lot of sense to me but I still can't see it getting better anytime soon (maybe in the future someday). I guess I'll remain on the sidelines for now.

Posted by: Kensingtonian at March 31, 2009 2:07 PM

Biff, I promise I am my own person and not any of the "usual suspects".

I'll prove so at your next get together (If I can make it).

After all, who here would stoop so low as to create an alternate persona and admit they bought a studio
co-op in Kensington/Midwood border. I am still fairly young and one of these days I am gonna get me a brownstone in Brooklyn.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 2:40 PM

Saw Hibio mentioned a couple of times. The Japanese restaurant on Henry is Hibino (just in case you do a search on Hibio and don't find anything). Good sushi, also excellent cooked dishes. If you like Japanese food, Aki Sushi on West Fourth is amaaaaaazing. The roasted eggplant and lotus root with peanut sauce are standout appetizers. Mmm, I miss that place. They have a great prix fixe menu too, but you have to be seated and order before 7pm.

Friends: no time to do anything but skim portions of the OT today, so maybe an answer has been posted already. SixYears: first "digest" covers Joe Hill's song "The Preacher and the Slave", more commonly known as "Pie in the Sky." If looking for more diversion, try this very Japanese game site (if you want to cheat, you can find English explanations on the site, too): http://flashfabrica.com/f_learning/brain/brain.html
To play: 1. Click on Start
2. Wait for the count 3, 2 and 1
3. Remember the locations of numbers on the screen and click on the circles starting from the smallest to the biggest number.
4. At the end of the game the computer tells you the age of your brain (if not your body).
BTW, I detest natto, which tastes, looks and smells like pre-eaten chewing tobacco.

"This spring I will ‘look’ in my closet, whatever still fits on my fat ass, I will wear."

LOL! Likewise...and then I will...

"Reprise" my last years Fall & Spring clothes. I will look the same as I always look, although some of the colors will be lighter. More pink, white, light grey, tan. Less black, brown, red.

I will buy ZERO new clothes until I have a JOB.

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 3:02 PM

Montrose Morris: these are 11th graders who are supposedly on grade level for reading and writing. The student in question speaks Chinese at home and English is her second language, but several years ago she exceeded whatever standards the NYC DOE has in its program for non-native English speakers, so she is not eligible for classes focusing on basic grammar, vocabulary, etc.

For anyone that cares:
Doctor's Row in Bay Ridge is Bay Ridge Parkway (75th Street) between 4th & 6th Avenues and has some beautiful limestones. For the most part the limestones are residential while the garden / basement levels are doctor's offices.

Where is bxgrl today??? You don't think that evil landlord did something to her do you???

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 4:48 PM

Didn't bxgrl say she was leaving town, perhaps she's 'off the grid'?

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 4:51 PM

Rob, frozen pizza is gross, it is like opening a salt shaker and swallowing all the salt in it.
Eat an apple too at least. Fla. strawberiies are really good this week too. Some fruit may counter act the frozen pizza.

Posted by: sam at March 31, 2009 4:51 PM

"Where is bxgrl today???"

Evil landlord probably has her out photographing every architectural detail in Brooklyn and won't let her back in the house till she's hit every street.

Cobblehiller:

We don't have "Hall Monitors" anymore in NYC - our union contract forbids teachers from doing such things except when they get certain comp-time positions like deans. Instead we have school safety agents who are somehow attached to the NYPD - not sure what the full story is there, or when the "real" NYPD steps in, but there is some linkage. I guarantee it though, students would run faster from that guy in BRG's link than from the security guards we have now!

Kensingtonian:

Gotta disagree with DIBS, the name isn't pompous at all when you see Kensington itself! I live in Kensington too, although I'm closer to the amenities in Ditmas Park, so I never get up to Church Avenue, and in true pompous asshat fashion I usually say I live in Ditmas Park.

201

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 4:54 PM

Posted by: gemini10 at March 31, 2009 4:55 PM

DIBS you're 4:54, which you claim is 201 is really 203.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 4:56 PM

Prove it, BRG.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 4:57 PM

Re: Hall monitors — your comment only serves to prove that I AM AN OLD LADY, again! : )

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 4:57 PM

Let's argue about post numbers until we hit 300.

Posted by: Biff Champion at March 31, 2009 4:58 PM

I'm going to Poo Poo Pizza.
It's nothing special.
Next.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 4:58 PM

Posted by: wasder at March 31, 2009 5:02 PM

Posted by: gemini10 at March 31, 2009 5:02 PM

DIBS, can you count backwards.

213, 212, 211, 210, 209, 208......

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 5:03 PM

The count is at 213 now.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 5:03 PM

I'm seeing a STFU Award being given out REAL SOON.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 5:04 PM

Thanks sixyears. I love Kensington as well. I am a bit farther away from Church Ave as well since I am closer to the Midwood border but I usually end up on Cortelyou Rd. for the obvious reasons.

Posted by: Kensingtonian at March 31, 2009 5:05 PM

MY 5:03 was #213

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 5:06 PM

Gemini?? Where have you been all day? Yes! He dumped her via email!

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 5:23 PM

Kensingtonian: Do you ever show your face at Sycamore? If so, we've possibly seen each other...though I was probably drunk at the time.

Posted by: sixyearsandcounting at March 31, 2009 5:23 PM

OK all. Have a good evening. I'm off like a prom dress.

Posted by: daveinbedstuy at March 31, 2009 5:26 PM

Email? So crappy. He could at least have flown back here to talk to her and their kids. Now I feel bad for her.

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 5:30 PM

Cobble,

Don't feel bad. Here's my take:

Posted by: TownhouseLady at March 31, 2009 5:45 PM

I had no idea you had a blog, lady! Perhaps you are right, but the email thing is still stinky.

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 5:49 PM

Shhh! don't tell.

He's so stinky I can smell him from here.

Posted by: TownhouseLady at March 31, 2009 5:51 PM

LOL!

I have a website, I'd show you but then I would have to kill you! ; )

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 5:53 PM

THL, you have so been holding out on us!!! Nicely written RH summary at the link you gave.

Is it just me or does the Count bear a striking resemblance to Jerry Springer in the photo on your blog?

Posted by: Biff Champion at March 31, 2009 5:56 PM

Awwww come on!!! You could email me with a link all private like!

Posted by: TownhouseLady at March 31, 2009 5:56 PM

THL, now you tell us you have a blog.
We could have been discussing your blog all day instead of nonsense.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 5:57 PM

I could...but I'm a little 'chicken' about sharing my identity with my friends here. I may get over it one day.

The Count is classless. Why is it that 'these rich people' treat each other like CRAP!

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 5:59 PM

Jeez...I seriously thought you'd all gone home. That's the only reason I did that.

Posted by: TownhouseLady at March 31, 2009 6:00 PM

cmu - don't think anybody replied to your question about rome
Haven't been there in several years -but if you are going at a time which is not peak holiday season - there is a tourist kiosk at the main railroad station (called TERMINI)
which can book you into a cheap hotel on the spot. there are thousands of hotels - and if you are not looking for anything more than a place to flop - you can do great with no reservations.
Have fun - its a great city - nothing is too tall and the juxtaposition of modern and ancient is awesome.

Posted by: rickintheridge at March 31, 2009 6:02 PM

I don't blame you Cobble. Mine is new, not business related and I don't plan on reveling anything personal on it either. Sure I talked about the cats but I hardly think I can be identified through them.

Unless...they have their own blogs where they talk about me???

Posted by: TownhouseLady at March 31, 2009 6:04 PM

Cobble, it's not only 'rich people' that treat each other like CRAP.
It's pretty much across the board.

THL - even late in the day you can't hide anything from us...nice try though. I will read your blog thoroughly later.

I used to have a blog...no more.

Posted by: bayridgegirl at March 31, 2009 6:05 PM

"Mine is new, not business related and I don't plan on reveling anything personal on it either."

I know some of you guys know each other, and it's nothing personal. I just get a little 'itchy' about it!

BRG, I know, I'm not sure why I'm surprised. 'Class' doesn't always denote 'class'! : )

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 6:14 PM

I'm 'off the grid' for the next bunch of days, going out west!

Have a good week! G'night. : )

Posted by: cobblehiller at March 31, 2009 6:18 PM

Bxgrl is on a train headed back from Florida. She'll be back tomorrow night. Little does she know her landlord rented out her apartment. Nya ha ha.
